No offense to either of these, but this might be the biggest no-name preseason list since I started following the NSIC. Either that, or I'm just really uninformed about the league.

No, I kind of thought the same thing. I expected Fuqua to be good this year based on how the 2nd half of his season went last year, but if he ends up being South PoY good, then the Mavs are going to be even better than I already feared they'd be. Still, he wasn't the guy I was expecting to see named preseason South PoY (not that I really had anyone else in mind specifically, I just don't think Fuqua was necessarily the clear-cut preseason PoY).

As far as Davis goes, I don't want to offend the guy (last time Augie fans talked trash about a specific player on here, Monaghan lit us up for 20-something and double-digit assists), but I can't remember the last time a PoY candidate was only a sophomore. On the one hand, that speaks to Davis's talent. On the other hand, it indicates that these senior classes, particularly in the North Division, clearly aren't as strong as they've been in years past when it comes to individual talent.

saw in the SMSU press release we only have 11 home games this year. Based on that, to finish 8th overall and 5th in the South would be a miracle in my opinion. It is hard to win on the road in hoops.

Unless I am missing something everyone plays the same number of games each year home/away during the conference portion of the schedule. Without looking I assume the Stangs just dont have any home games during non conference part of schedule which doesn't count toward conference standings. Unless again they changed something.

Yeah, no home non-conference games for SMSU. Not very good on their schedulers part.

Wow. I've never seen something like that before. Surprising.

It's not uncommon for us to travel a bunch in nonconference play, but usually we've had at least one game at home. Heck, at least an exhibition. But not this year.

Exhibition in Northfield, NSIC/MIAA Challenge at Sioux Falls, at Northern, Michigan UP double dip. Then it's home on the 29th for conference opener against USF.

All you'd pretty much have to do is swap Upper Iowa and Winona and it would be pretty close.
