Re: The Official Northern State Wolves Thread

For whatever it is worth, Brennan was a SD all-star, good size and averaged around 12 and 8. Not expecting much.

Doing research on Roko, and it's going to take a lot of digging to have any idea what kind of player he is/will be. National U16 team member at 2.7 ppg. Don't see him as more than a back up to Ian but if he is better than he is, that's a huge bonus.

Did not know it until today but the Wolves will be taking on Arizona State in two weeks.

Let it be known I've heard the words "national title contender" thrown around in regards to this team....

There is this feeling on both squads this year but of course, an entire season is to be played. I don't care what Simple said in the other thread, I refuse to get too hopeful until post season, ha.

The women have quite the test coming up with an exhibition at Creighton followed by playing at SDSU the following night.

Creighton was picked 4th in the Big East, while the SDSU women are RV in the coaches poll and preaseaon favorite in the Summit.

I thought that you were projecting a Northern v Kansas game for next season?

I don't recall anything. I believe the Jackrabbit men play them this year is all I can think of.

Just yanking your chain. Would you have to wear one of those half and half outfits for that game?

Should be fun to see if the Vikes can be one of the few teams to top the Wolves this year. Would be nice to return the favor from a couple of years ago. Ideally it would happen in the regional though, and not the regular season. :)

Absolutely not. My allegiance is Northern, Jayhawks, Jacks...at the other end from bottom up is Coyotes, Duke, Nebraska.

If the Wolves did find a way to play at Allen Fieldhouse I'd put everything on the line to make that trip.

Yes, yes. This is one of the reasons why I am cautious on the season. We don't have a good history with Augie, similar to when we couldn't get past Winona. I want Augie and NSU to continue to develop/build a rivalry as there are a lot of good things about it. But the Wolves have to start winning or it's not going to be near as intense as it could be.

Big week is upon us. Women's hoops has a exhibition Tuesday followed by Harding and Central Missouri this weekend.

The men get their tough weekend matchup of Washburn Friday and NWMSU Sunday.

It's not a defining weekend but certainly one to look forward to.

Just checked and the SD state B boys tourney in Aberdeen is the 15th-17th. Again, a big IF, but IF the Wolves can host the regional it will not conflict with the use of Wachs arena. Not sure on when the women's regional is, but if that is the same weekend as the state B's that is an event that could be played at the Civic arena. Oh, what a great that would be.

This weekend doesn't decide the season but will go a long way potentially down the road.

The women played the Big East defending champions close, fell just short of taking down SDSU (pressing Summit favorote) in Brookings and closed out a top ten NAIA team in DWU last night. This weekend they get the GAC pressing favorite on Harding (who they narrowly lost to the last two seasons on the first round of the regoonal) and then get preseason MIAA favorite Central Missouri the next day.

phew, I was worried there for a second.
With that being said, I go back to my previous statement that the MEN'S regional will be in Maryville. Everyone's main thought should now turn to answering the question......Who guards Pitts on March 13?

Well, it's always been a fear in years where there has been an outside chance of the tourneys being the same weekend. State B boys packs every hotel as well as get the max 8,000+ packed into Wachs. If the NSU been hosted itd have to be at the Civic arena which isn't big enough to host most mens regular season home game crowds. So again, while a long shot, there is certainly the potential and it's nice to know it won't conflict.
