With the conf season winding down, there are a lot of things at stake. NWMS can clinch a tie with a win on Thurs night at UCM. Pitt State travels to MO Southern on Tuesday and tries to end their losing skid. Southern is trying to keep pace with Washburn. The Ichabods have a tough road swing at Lindy and at Lincoln. There are 7 teams between 7-8 and 5-10 and only 5 spots for the conf tourney. Should be a big week with 2 games on Tues, 6 on Thurs and 6 on Sat.

Re: MIAA Week 9 Chat
Btech, we know who you and I are the most interested in. Southern needs to gain a game on the Ichabods to get that second seed. While it won't be easy for Southern the rest of the way (have to beat Pitt for the second time in four days, followed by games at Emporia, Hays and Kearney), it seems to me like Washburn has a tougher final four games. At Lindenwood (who looks to be peaking again), at Lincoln, and finishing with home games against Northwest Missouri and Missouri Western.
Seems to me like the Lions have a pretty good chance to gain that game.

Re: MIAA Week 9 Chat
Not sure the Lions can finish 4-0 but it sure would be sweet if a 3-1 finish was good enough.
There's some work to be done, but at this point it's feeling quite similar to last year, where the Lions caught the Bods at the end and slipped into the second seed, and both teams along with Northwest represented the MIAA at the regional.

Re: MIAA Week 9 Chat
I watched Southern beat Pitt on Saturday. It was a fun game to watch, but on the road, I see even less of a chance for Pitt, especially if Southern hits 3's like they did in the first half this week. (I think they only missed 2 the entire half and they shot a bunch of them.) Between that and the sasquatch twins Southern has inside, I think this week will be more of the same.

The Lions were a very respectable 10-21 from 3-point land in the first half.Originally posted by Predatory Primates View PostI watched Southern beat Pitt on Saturday. Scheduled all along. And after a few technicals were handled out Saturday, and given the rivalry, hopefully nothing carries over but the MIAA didn't leave either team much time to cool off.Originally posted by Randy View PostWas this 2 games in 4 days scheduled or a result of weather earlier in the season?

Re: MIAA Week 9 Chat
With two games separating seeds 6 through 12, a lot can happen over the last couple of weeks.
Games remaining for those teams:
6. Pitt State - a game up on the cluster behind, but all four games are on the road, and two of them against teams ahead of them in the standings.
@ Southern
@ Emporia State
@ UNK
@ Fort Hays
T7. UCM - Like SBU and MWSU, have the almost automatic loss built in vs NWMSU, but otherwise have winnable games. Lincoln is the only other team ahead of them in the standings, and they won the home game.
vs. NWMSU
vs. MWSU
@ Lindenwood
@ Lincoln
T7. Northeastern State - may have the "easiest" path, with the only road game being against the last-place team (but a team that beat them at home, so no guarantees obviously).
vs. UNK
vs. FHSU
@ UCO
vs. Emporia State
T7. Southwest Baptist - again the loss to Northwest, and Lincoln beat them pretty soundly in Bolivar.
vs. MWSU
vs. Northwest
@ Lincoln
@ Lindenwood
T7. Lindenwood - Two games against teams ahead of them (one on the road) and the other two with teams they're tied with.
@ Lincoln
vs. Washburn
vs. UCM
vs. SBU
T7. Emporia State - MSSU is the toughest opponent left, and they only lost to the Lions by 3 in Joplin, so who knows?
vs. Pitt State
vs. MSSU
@ NSU
@ UCO
12. MWSU - gotta make hay this week against teams that beat you on your home floor this week. Tough assignment.
@ SBU
@ UCM
@ NWMSU
@ Washburn
UNK is only two games back of the five tied for 7th and has games against Pitt State and NSU - might be too high a mountain for them to climb themselves with so many teams ahead of them, but they could certainly have a say.

ESU has the tiebreaker on MWSU, LWU, and SBU while UCM holds the tiebreaker on the Hornets. Pitt beat ESU in their first meeting and play again on Thursday.Originally posted by GrifFan View PostWith two games separating seeds 6 through 12, a lot can happen over the last couple of weeks.

Of the teams listed:
ESU has won two in a row and four out of six;
LWU has won two in a row but had lost five in a row before that;
UCM won their last game but is 2-4 over the last six;
SBU is 2-4 in their last six;
NSU has lost four in a row and is 2-4 over their last six but the two wins were part of a six game winning streak;
MWSU is 2-4 in their last six;
PSU has lost six in a row.
I used the last six games to cover the last three weekends of action.
