Looking for a fun weekend with a lot of good contests. Good luck and safe travels to all.
mankato is a power with cache & charisma. they will come ready to play. it is the marquee matchup of the first round & if we aren't ready we will get it handed to us just like last yr. justa buncha sour grapes itt that's all.

Haha. I knew I was setting myself up for message board ridicule, but oh well.

I'll setup a 'prove-it' meeting on our next road trip :)

    ah. allow me to assist.
i was lol'g at the notion that you think mnstmk is a fball power.

    (lol = laugh out loud)

now, don't take that literally. i didn't actually laugh out loud. i probably rolled my eyes at the absurdity of the notion.
not that i actually recall, due to probably being hammered drunk - probably. but again, idr.

in any event i assert that mankato is deserving of their bid & submit as evidence the fact that they have said bid. if they weren't deserving they wouldn't have received it.

This. Plus, he wants the message to his team to be positive: "the break did us good" as opposed to "cripes, we're going to be rusty as hell."

I posted on the Jacks board that WIU would be a bottom half MIAA team (still believe this), and that they are due to run out of money and get into the GLVC where they belong. Then the game started. Teach me.

Sweet Atila Santos's ghost these quotes from Margs:

"There's plenty of time to get back to work this week, and honestly, the time off was good, to get away from each other for a few days."

    And Courrier:

After returning to Mankato this weekend, the players didn't get together Sunday to watch the selection show, still apprehensive about their chances.

Do nothing but encourage the idea that this team does not get along at all.

My suggestion to Wayne fans is that they not read this article. It will probably only make them more upset.

    Interesting quotes:
"There was no guarantees that we were in, so we let the guys go (on spring break)," said Margenthaler, who took a few days off with his wife before attending the Illinois state tournament on a recruiting trip last week. "We had a team meeting before they left, telling the guys that they needed to stay in shape because it was possible that we would get in.

"There's plenty of time to get back to work this week, and honestly, the time off was good, to get away from each other for a few days. Now we can focus on what's ahead and have some fun."
Nothing says "team" like the phrase, "...the time off was good, to get away from each other for a few days."

    Then there was this gem:
After returning to Mankato this weekend, the players didn't get together Sunday to watch the selection show, still apprehensive about their chances.
Honestly, do any of these players like each other or care about the team at all?

Some of my anger goes to the regional committee. Frankly Mankato finished so badly that they shouldn't have made the top 10 (12th according to these stats), but for some reason they were kept at #9 by the regional committee, which gave the national folks an excuse to feel useful and interfere with a local evaluation.

Had WSC lost out to a GAC or MIAA school I'd have shrugged my shoulders and been mildly sad. This sucks however. It seems utterly unjust. It has been 19 years since WSC last made a Regional, and would have been a huge deal for WSC. Mankato has been there, done that. Their fans seem to alternate between indifference, embarrassment, and occasional outright hostility towards this year's Mankato squad. Mankato does have a very good program, but this year they totally tanked at the end. They have two fewer conference wins. Why reward them? Do they get an auto bid?

Ok, my rant is done. See y'all again in October. Best wishes to the other 7.
What makes the whole thing even more bizarre is that Margs is the NSIC Mens Coach rep on the Regional Committee. So if your National Committee overruling the Regional Committee logic checks out then Margs had accepted his season was over before this act of aggression.
