An interesting weekend to say the least in regard to basketball. Mo West losing two in a row and Lincoln going to the wire with NW. Washburn losing to UCO was not really that big of a surprise as UCO is very talented. LU is a much different team with the addition of Derrick Woods who is avg. 18.7 points a game in his first 4 games. He is a big man who can also shoot the three. Don't know what to think of MW as they are coming off of a layoff due to Covid and that certainly would have a great deal to do with their losing streak. They will be back. NW is very much in the drivers seat to win yet another conf. crown. A couple of slip ups could change that picture as well. Keep grinding is key to this streak of many games in the next 4 weeks. On to Feb. basketball in the MIAA.

What a difference a couple of weeks makes. From almost no COVID issues and a win over a top 5 program to a two-week hiatus and three consecutive losses for the Griffons. Next up, six games in 10 days (Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Monday). Fortunately, five of the six are at home, but two of the six are against Northwest.

FHSU Women took both games of UNK vs FHSU, 2 games in 3 days(actually about 48 hours if you look at actual time). Not sure what this means for rankings in general but also the entire MIAA - the team that was undefeated loses twice in a week. Are they not as good? Is the conference not as good? Was FHSU just underrated?
FHSU men also took down UNK men. FHSU is getting lots of playing time from freshmen, redshirts, or transfers - guys who have never played for FHSU until this year. Hopeful this is a good sign for the future.

Need a "white flag" rule to end the bleeding. Here's hoping at seasons end that Coach K. and AD Hughes are both booted out the door.
