That would really set up nicely for the winner of that Augie/Northern matchup. Also, that matchup on the first day of the tournament in SF would hurt attendance for the rest of the week.

So Sioux Falls isn't playing in postseason this year? 😉

Assuming this should be Mary at Sioux Falls.

                  A quarterfinal Sunday of

                  Moorhead vs Mankato
                  SCSU vs. SMSU
                  UIU vs USF
                  Augustana vs Northern

would be must watch theater. The most desirable seed in the tourney is the South #1 since it involves two games without having to face one of the seven (Moorhead, Northern, SCSU, UIU, SMSU, Augie, and Mankato) legitimate teams in the league. There are three teams with a shot at that seed-UIU, SMSU, and Augie. Based on my understanding of the tiebreakers here's how it breaks down:

The most likely scenario per http://masseyratings.com/rate.php?s=cb2017&sub=11606 is Augie and SMSU sweep, while UIU goes 1-1. In that scenario it's 1. SMSU (benter NSIC record) 2. UIU (2-0 vs best team in Division, SMSU) 3. Augie

In the event of Augie sweeping, UIU going 1-1, and SMSU going 1-1 it will be 1. UIU (based on 2-0 record vs the next highest division team-SMSU) 2. Augie (better division record than SMSU) 3. SMSU
In the event of UIU sweeping, SMSU sweeping, and Augie going 1-1 it will be 1. UIU (better division record than SMSU) 2. SMSU (better NSIC record than Augie) 3. Augie
In the event of Augie sweeping, SMSU going 1-1, and UIU going 0-2 it will be 1. Augie (better division record than SMSU) 2. SMSU (better NSIC record than UIU) 3. UIU

Please fact check my work as it's easy to get lost in the quicksand of these scenarios and fight too ferociously to escape.

If SMSU sweeps and UIU goes 1-1, SMSU would be 17-5 and Upper Iowa 16-6, deeming the head-to-head meaningless

Yep, that's a factual statement. I updated my post.

Just to add onto the work Augieholic did, MSU could still tie for the division title although they will lose any tiebreakers (3 games back in division record). MSU is 0-5 against the top three teams going into tonight.
