Drake fans are going to get to see whether or not they could compete in the Big 10. Hopefully Mac, for Mac’s sake, can pull in a few more guys. Iowa, right now, is very undersized… seeing what Tech did to Drake has to be a concern. They could use some shooters too. The kid that entered the portal but stayed can shoot a little, and Howard might become one, but the roster looks a little light thus far.Originally posted by NWFanatic View Post

Both of their X pages claim to be coaches with Iowa basketball. I doubt they’d make that claim if they haven’t been asked or if it hadn’t been agreed upon. The university probably just hasn’t announced it yet. That doesn’t mean that either one couldn’t be offered another position and end up somewhere else before season starts, but it looks like they’re both following BMc at this point.Comment

In the meantime, 2025 Iowa's Mr. Basketball 6'11'' Trevin Jirak commits to Iowa a couple days ago. Played for Valley High School out of West Des Moines winning their third consecutive state championship. Yeah, he entered a week or so ago. He only came to Iowa in like January… probably didn’t have time to unpack! Lol I’ve seen some way too early preseason predictions that have Iowa in the Top 25. They only had 6 players at the time and 5 of them were from Drake (only 2 of those started). I watched the state title game before we knew Ben was leaving and thought that kid would be a problem for Drake down the road at UNI. He’s tall, but he’s thick too… not a kid that’s going to need to but on 20-30 lbs. He runs the floor well and has good touch… I think he’ll be able to step out and shoot and be able to do a little more of what McCollum’s bigs did offensively at NW than what they did at Drake.
