I'll jump on my own post, thought others would jump to share.
FH has one more game before break. Looks like we have been still trying to figure out what this team dynamic is this year. Moments it looks great and others it looks very rough. Last night looked to be the best game of the year, upset ranked Metro State. Others games have been rough, like we haven't played much together.
Washburn looked great when playing us. Fast paced. Pressure all game. Some all around good players as well. Little bit surprised they didn't have more buy in from outsiders before the season.
Washburn clearly is sitting at the top. They have had a few closer games later in the season. The fast pace and pressure D will test their fitness level as it gets later in the season BUT they still are very sound all the way around. A well put together team.
After that their is a log jam. Lots of games to play and for those fighting for the positions after 1 ma y big games left.
Each team in this log jam controls their own destiny due to big games.
Personally, I’m looking forward to this weekend’s Maryville Invitational. #12 Fort Smith battles #13 Missouri Southern before the evening’s nightcap, pitting #11 Newman versus the home team #14 Northwest Missouri Bearcats.
The 9’ high rim and using the women’s size basketball should add an extra layer of spice. Also, the fact that the MIAA has assigned their six worst officials to the event will create quite the rowdy environment for the twenty-plus fans (parents) planning to attend from each school.
Genius that the four universities came up with this idea so their teams would be allowed another week of practice- Lord knows they all need it.
Mules showing their true colors today against Hays after the win over Hays in the 'Burg. Have put up a whopping 10 points with just over 3 to go in the first half. 3- 20 from the field (2 - 10 from three) and 2 - 6 from the line. Uniforms being turned in yet tonight after the ride home from the Muni.

UPDATE:
In an unexpected twist, the games were moved up to early this morning, avoiding a conflict with the big boys’ games being played in Kansas City. The Lions and Lions tipped off at 5am and nobody cared. The game ended in a 19-19 tie, so the teams decided to merge into one pride rather than playing overtime. The MIAA and D2 officials as usual didn’t care.
In game two this morning, just completed, Newman came out looking like a fat lazy mailman from New York and lost to the hometown Bearcats 107-12. The gym was packed after last night’s announcement that Coach Ben McCollum was signed to a one day contract to coach Northwest Missouri one last time. He’s already in a limo on his way back to Drake.
Tomorrow morning’s Bottomship Game:
Lions vs. Bullcats
Incredible finale at Maryville today in the MIAA Bottom Four bracket. The Southern Lions held a commanding 54-33 halftime lead after the return of Cam Martin to the roster. The former Jackson State / Southern / Kansas / Boise State player and D2 All American was deemed to have one more game of eligibility.
But the tide turned in the second half when Martin decided to transfer at halftime to Northwest Missouri. Martin finished with 60 points as he led the Bearcats to an eventual 99-88 victory.
Back to actual tournament conversation.
Winner to NCAA tournament.
UCO is probably the hottest team in the conference right now.
Hays more consistent this year and veteran team.
UCO beat FH by 10 in January in Edmond.
The MIAA got a shout out from CBS today during the Drake game. The announcer said the MIAA must be a pretty tough league if Stirtz was only 2nd team All Conference last year while being MVC POY this year😎
