Whats the state of the league and your team as we head into Christmad break? I know some games still left but wanted to get this up.

Thought maybe some others might post but I'll start with FH.

Just finished our games before break in Hawaii. I like the back to back games in Hawaii as a preparation for March with potential close games.
Have played well so far this year. Lots of big games still ahead. Definitely feel the team is improved from last year with players stepping up.

The NW game was a good game of what could be ahead later this year with a rematch. As always this conference is strong.

Fort Hays is a clear and obvious top 5 team. I think they're just as good as Grand Valley, most people that follow D2 nationally seem to think GVSU is a little better.

Emporia seems to be on the edge of a complete meltdown, but showed what we're capable of against Northwest. Internal issues make predicting the future very difficult - I would say I like some of the recruits we brought in but was hoping for a bigger step forward in the on-court product this year based on how last year went.

Pitt is the other team in the conference that can justify national title hopes.

Northwest initially looked solid, but is prone to disappearing offensively. Central Missouri has enough talent to beat anybody on the right day, but won't be consistent enough to make a regional without winning the conference tournament. Both could make some noise if they peak at the right time.

UNK and Mo West have nice records but more concerning losses than impressive wins. MOSO has more excusable losses.

UCO is the best 3-9 team in the country (I did not check on all the others to be fair) - don't think they're special but might turn out a decent conference record playing on the easier side of the schedule.

Not sure if there's anyone else worth mentioning. Fort Smith could prove that wrong but hasn't faced anyone significant so far.

Terrible week for the officials. First they completely ignore Central Missouri calling a timeout with 8 seconds left in Emporia.

Then today they completely ignore an obvious intentional foul while the ball is out of bounds to let Western put the player they want on the free throw line in the last minute against Fort Hays. Right after calling an intentional foul on Fort Hays less than a minute earlier.

Throw in that we have a terrible streaming service that is only falling further behind the rest of D2 as FloSports takes over, a lazy unbalanced schedule (don't even get me started on the Volleyball schedule) it makes the whole thing feel like a big joke. A lot of great athletic programs and institutions playing in a conference that doesn't take it seriously.

Came here to say the same thing about the non call intentional foul.
If you have MIAA pass I suggest going to watch it, last minute of the game.

Officials had to step in before FHSU inbound the ball to tell MW to stop pushing, they reset, MW player pushes again. Clearly pushing her. FHSU player wasn't even running towards the ball. Clear intentional foul.

MOSO has a good team, but nothing great. They show flashes in games where it looks like they can compete with the top teams. Then they have stretches where anyone can beat them. Just way too much inconsistency that has resulted in close games, even against weaker teams. The ladies will find out how far they have to go when they play at Pitt Tuesday night.

As we head into to the last 3 weeks lots of big games left on the women's side!

Pitt had 3 hard weeks left with their toughest games of the conference year ahead. MoWest, NW, UNK, and FHSU all on the road before UCM and Wash at home. The biggest being MoWest UNK and FHSU all in the top 4. I feel that NW is a much better team than their record shows.

FHSU and UNK play each other twice in the last week due to a weather make up.

Western has their own games still against MoSo and also Ark Ft.Smith which are 5 and 6 in the conference.

Lots of movement could still happen at the top before it's all done in 3 weeks.

I know there is still three weeks left, but pretty wild a team undefeated in the conference is ranked third to a three loss conference team with one less game. Has to be very frustrating to the undefeated team. Yes, in the end it will work itself out but just going by records the undefeated team would have a three game lead with 3 weeks to play over the "current" KPI leader. Hopefully Pittsburgh State can beat them tomorrow night.

Pitt State is currently putting the smackdown on Western, 60-34.

I assumed KPI was just going to be the tiebreaker for seeding. Using that instead of record doesn’t make sense to me.

My understanding is that the KPI ranking will be the seeding. It was determined to be the fair way to go with unbalanced schedules.

I'd like to know how it's computed but it appears to be doing what it was designed to do. Pitt was 13-0 when these were released. 11 of the 13 games were against teams with negative KPI scores. Western has played 8 games against teams with positive KPI scores.

There are 4 teams with a .135 or better KPI score. Western has played Hays & Kearney twice and played Pitt tonight (not counted in the current rankings). Pitt's game against Western tonight is their first game against 1 of the 3 other teams. On the other end, there are 2 teams with -.189 scores or worse. Pitt has played both Newman and Rogers twice while Western has played Rogers once.

CentralMO has a positive KPI with a losing record largely due to the fact that they have played Western, Hays and Kearney twice.

Scheduling as if you have divisions, then not actually breaking the standings into divisions, seems strange to me. But almost every schedule I see in this conference seems strange to me, so I'm used to it at this point.

Would love to see a more creative solution that guarantees in-state rivals getting to play both places every year.

                              Meanwhile in Emporia: https://www.esubulletin.com/news/you...9073d37ed.html

Apparently kicking one of your best players off the team in an angry tirade is how we tried to fix things. I can't imagine it was her fault that every time we switch from man to a 2-3 zone the other team identifies it before we do.

Don't love yet another story of the AD not being available to women concerned with how things were going.
