BU and the NCAA might have asked about the Commonwealth Convention Center and the arena to host. They hosted the Elite Eight in it years back. It has plenty of seats.

Part of the problem for BU is their gym is ancient and was one of the worst when we were in the GLVC. Is the Louisville Gardens still standing? If so that would have been a better site for this regional as it has more seats. I do not blame BU for wanting the tix for their game against Truman, but there has to be a better way than to have Quincy and KWC fans shut out for the night game and no one there because the BU fans will leave.

Quick question. Has KWC beaten a ranked opponent since Happy became coach?

Re: 2016-2017 Kentucky Wesleyan basketball thread.
In reply to all the ticket talk this has been an NCAA policy for years. Bellarmine and also when Drury, KWC and Finlday hosted, each visiting team was allotted 150 tickets. If you have a small gym then it means less of your fans can enter assuming all teams use all their allotted tickets. Each team needs to file with the NCAA in order to host showing how they would do every and how they can meet all necessary measures. A place like Christian Brothers only seats a few hundred people so they would never be allowed to host even if they were the unanimous #1 seed.
The whole point of having it at a home gym is to make money based on ticket sales and hoping the host school continues to win. They would lose money just based on the rental fee if they were to have it in a 10,00+ seat arena. You also need to factor in that most DII fan bases do not travel as well as the Midwest. For a lot of schools, space is never an issue.
As a Bellarmine fan in 2012, the last time Bellarmine hosted, it was not publicized but fans were allowed in the building after the BU game when people were leaving. I do think the NCAA requires everyone to purchase a "ticket" so there might have been some double dipping but you can get in the game. Heck by halftime the gym will only be 20% full. Quincy does not travel well if I remember their fan base back in Owensboro when they lost to St Joe in the regional final.
Bottom line, you can bash Bellarmine all you want but they put on a first-class event and do so entirely within the rules of the NCAA. They have been doing the same practices since they started hosting in 2011 and obviously the NCAA doesn't have a problem with it.

Don't worry, Happy is not going anywhere...he's done nothing at the DII level...and unfortunately Watson is in the same boat.
