You don't have to make the title game 11 years in a row, or not have any bad teams in your league to be a good league. You seen the bottom of the MIAA or the Mountain East? Every conference has their versions of William Jewell and Springfield.

And no, Drury wasn't a part of 11 consecutive title games, but Drury and Bellarmine are the only two GLVC schools to win a national title since the ethically challenged Harper and Pearl moved on (or got moved out).

Many d1 coaches at that time. Steve Hawkins put out Quincy squads who today would runaway with the glvc. Jim Whitesell had the best Lewis teams that weren't good enough to finish 1,2,or 3 Royce Waltman had Uindy #1 before taking Indiana st back to dance for first time since Larry legend. St joes was bad because was on death penalty. Bellarmine was decent until just and the one after. Northern was powerhouse. Iupufw was fully funded as was SIUe. Now? Who's a d1 candidate besides Scotty? A distant second is Hesser.
    League is way down.

You're so dramatic. I saw several MIAA teams this year. Besides Northwest, the GLVC was head and shoulders this year above the league you just crowned King of D2.

Yep, the league isn't good enough to put a team in the title game 11 times in a row.

Still has two titles in the last 7 years. Which league has more? I'll wait.

Level of coaching is down from 6-7 years ago, I'll give you that. Bezold, Lee, Simmons, and Herdes were better than the coaches that came in when they left (although Herdes was a cheater, as was Pearl before him). The two best ones are still here, though, along with Reigel, Gouard, Trost....the overall level of coaching in the GLVC is still better than most.

Glvc is still better than most D2 leagues. It is waay down from peak. In years past there would be no question that if you shipped teams out of this region format you would have multiple glvc teams in E8. You have guys like WoD repeating it's the best league to minimize his failures. It's not the best league.
Lincoln memorial, king, ttusculum all should have been persued besides these jokes like Lebanon HS, Maryville, bill, and broke state Springfield.

Naumovich is milk-toast weak, everyone knows that, and under him the league has brought in some schools that are perennial bottom-dwellers. Every large conference has those. Even SEC football has Vanderbilt. You want to see some basketball teams that suck? Go look at the bottom of D1. SIUE lost to McKendree and Missouri Western this year, neither of which had 10 D2 wins - and SIUE's RPI was better than 18 other D1 teams! They also manage to be that sh*tty given full funding, large arenas, 8 person coaching staffs, and 13 full rides to recruit at the D1 level. You can't tell me there aren't at least 8 GLVC coaches who are better than some of the clowns running the bottom 100 NCAA D1 programs.

In the end, whether or not the current GLVC or any other league stacks up to the "old" GLVC is meaningless. You play against other current D2 teams to win a title, not against KWC and USI circa 1998.

The MIAA won two of the last four titles (Central Missouri, 2014; NW, 2017), so that kinda deflates the argument a little bit.

Is that more than 2 in the last 7? if you want to get 3 for the MIAA, you have to go back to 1996. In that timeframe, the GLVC had 4 titles and finished second 7 times.

Weber to be retained at Kansas St. How to these proven mediocre at best, no personality duds keep getting raises and extensions? what other job can you drive down performance, run off sales, lose revenue, and keep your job? WoD & co and Weber love those state gigs, they get to suck that teet to retirement

word swirling around is WoD got another extension this month, has 5 yrs left now on current contract. if usi were private school he and jm would have been shown the door long ago. gotta give it to them they know public teets are the way to go.

It would not surprise me at all. Alphabet Bennett and JMH have no idea how to run a university of an athletics program. Bennett is just sucking the university dry as she sits back and waits for retirement. I doubt she is even on campus much during the summer. USI misses H. Ray Hoops more and more every day!

Same tired line day after day. You might give optimism a chance. While you beat the negative drum over and over, the real fans are chomping at the bit to see an extremely talented team take the floor next year. The accumulation of talent we have already assembled is impressive, but word is it is about to get even better!

Haha "real fans" aka those with same last name as WoD, JM, rick Astley, and three senile blue hairs.

WoD could have the top class in all of NCAA. The result would still be at best : One and done.
