Wow, looked like SMU had one of the best shooting nights you will ever see, draining 18 of 34 3-pointers (52.9%) while making only 10 2-pointers. SMU was pretty much a 2 man team, led by South Puget Sound CC transfer Luke Chavez who scored 32 points on 6/10 3-point shooting, and San Jose State transfer EJ Boyce who scored 22 points on 7/12 from distance. So combined they made 13 of the 18 3-pointers and scored 54 of the 87 points.

Dickerson was a big inside factor for UW scoring 21 with 10 rebounds. Garfield alum Jaylen Nowell scored 14 with 4 steals in his college debut. The difference was UW outscoring the Saints in the paint 34-12. If the Saints can shoot even half that good this year, they can be a surprise. But losing Fred Jorg could hurt as they now really lack size.

I hate the Huskies and I find it humorous that they got a new coach and they still refuse to play defense. Nice hire, Mutts!

No they did play defense. They play a zone, forcing the outside shots rather than giving up the paint. Most teams don't shoot as well as SMU did. Got to give them credit for shooting 53% from deep. They were bad with their 2-pointers but they responded well to UW's zone. UW went to a press and man on man defense late in the game. Probably could've switched that up sooner.

Just remember you heard the name Chavez from me first before he booked 32 last night vs. DI opponent. Not that it matters, but I was guessing Chavez will be a major force in the GNAC this year and looks like he made a point in his first game with the Saints.

Other exhibitions going on: sounds like UAF lost to UNLV pretty solidly. I saw game flow a bit, but I don't really know anything about it, other than that was the expected result... Sounds like UAA lost a relatively close one with UC Irvine. WWU manhandled Quest (wah wah), CWU squeaked it out in OT vs Northwest, and MSUB got past Rocky Mountain. Did you see the CWU game Wildcat? Sounds like Ladd picked up where he left off.
