  • Shabazz to D1 U of San Fran

    https://twitter.com/Khalilshabazz0/s...198266368?s=19

The GNAC Freshman of the Year and CWU's scoring leader from last season is making the jump to D1 to play in the same conference as Gonzaga. Glad to see he found a good spot. Shabazz vs Brock Ravat showdown coming soon!

Also, Coleman Sparling has just received a D1 offer from Texas-Arlington: https://twitter.com/Sparling_23/stat...02460696899584

He currently plays for Southern Idaho (Juco). We will see if he picks up more D1 offers over the course of the season. I never thought of him as a D1 player. Then again, I didn't see a huge sample size to say for sure.

Meanwhile, Shabazz is redshirting at USF per transfer rules.

CSI is one of the top JC programs in the country, even their bench guys get D1 offers. Sparling picked a good place to land.

Sparling just offered by Cal Poly too. He mentioned CSI had a jamboree so that is where some college coaches must've seen

          No offer from UAF yet?

I would have to assume that an offer from UAF is a given.

              From what I've heard, he's a D-1 bench guy/D2 starter.

Tony Miller at Montana will redshirt this year, good thing as UM returns its top 7 or so players. He should be able to play next year. If he was eligible this year, he's not playing much. WWU dude at Grand Canyon will also be a role player/bench guy (IMO).

Doesn't Miller have to sit a year due to transfer rules? Drechsel is a grad. transfer so can play immediately.

Yep, that's what I put, redshirting (because of transfer). He wouldn't play much this year anyway. Drechsel is a role player/bench guy. More power to him if he plays this year. I saw him get get worked last year at NNU, barely had D2 quicks/speed, IMO. Nice jumper, however.

Got to give you some crap, tsull, for your bashing players for transferring to play D1 ball. Dreschel has played in all 27 games to date, averaging 25.6 minutes, 8.1 points and team leading 5.4 rebounds per game. Doing pretty well for himself.

Solid numbers, especially the boards. When I saw him at NNU last year he had 25 points/9 boards; his man had 22 points, 5 assists, his team lost. I thought he was a good shooter, poor defender. He's done well, but are we supposed to be super jacked at guys who score 8 ppg in an OK league? I said on this board he'd be a role player, 8 ppg at 99.9 percent of schools is a role player. Maybe at Grand Canyon that's a superstar, I'm not sure.
