  • Maximum Game Restriction for 2020-21 season

    http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/...umber-contests

2020-21 season has been reduced to 22 games. This includes all tip-off/showcase tournaments, which are usually excluded from the total. That means GNAC teams will only play 4 non-con opponents. I would figures that means the season will not begin until mid to late November, or even December for teams who prefer to play games during Winter Break.

It will be interesting to see what the potential scheduling looks like. I would think teams won't want to start playing their non-cons till right before league play, so maybe the ideal schedule would be 2 games before league play and 2 games over the holiday break? Or maybe if students aren't back on campus till January, they just push all the non-con games to be played over the break and start the regular league play a week late in January. Who knows. At least some news is coming out now and gives planners and coaches concrete things to plan around.

With NDNU shutting their doors (athletically speaking at least), that would leave room for the PacWest schools to have a grand total of TWO non-conference games, if everyone is open and willing to play.
