  • Huge CWU win

Huge win for Central Washington today beating League leader Northwest nazarene. Looking at the score must have been a great game. I think the Wildcats take over first place but I'm not sure. This board isn't very active just winter, not sure why. It's a pretty tight race. We at Western Oregon have to worry about things like lawsuits and last place teams.

Western Oregon men lose again they're 4 and 20 or something like that the worst team in 60 years or so according to the record books.

A gigantic effort by CWU men’s team paid dividends. A large and energetic home crowd was rewarded with a victory in OT on a last second 3 by transfer Garret Anderson. NNU dominated the inside and forced a whopping 21 turnovers but CWU shot an amazing 69% from 3 point range.

Wow that sounded like a super exciting game. I should have watched it on the internet. Thanks for the update.

It was just electric to watch, especially in person. My mistake about the buzzer beater. It was sophomore Maverick Sanders that nailed that last second 3 ball. Seems only appropriate that a guy named Maverick could shoot like that at the most important moment.

Epic win. CWU is known for game winning 3's.

Had the feeling that CWU would win that one. I still think they'll either finish in first on the season, or win the GNAC tourney - possibly both. They're not unbeatable, for sure, but with the season the GNAC is having, they look to me like the top team. I think it's a good year for a sleeper to potentially win the GNAC tourney since the top teams have all taken losses and teams like MSUB and WWU are making up lost ground at this point.

Bummed my Nooks seem to have lost the momentum they were building. I think Ostanik got them playing at a higher level than expected pretty early and now everyone else in the mid pack range is catching up to them and the season. They just make too many mistakes still and with a lot of these games coming down to a handful or fewer point differentials in terms of winning or losing, they have to be tougher mentally. I thought Ostanik put it well in our newspaper today - we aren't tough enough and when things do get tough, we tend to try to do things as individuals rather than as a team. That seems par for the course with a team that had to be put together very late. I hope they can find some more of that magic they were playing with earlier this season and make a run to one of the GNAC tourney positions, but there are not many games left on their schedule that look winnable, given their last 4 losses. They won't get any more wins if they don't get back to what was working for them, and even then, they are going to need some luck as everyone else has improved as well. I knew Irish Coquia (SFU) scored a lot on us last time, so the Nooks certainly knew they needed to mark that guy really closely the entire game, but they only managed to do that about 50% of the time, and then gave him easy opportunities to score 28 points on them again - come on. If I know you need to mark a guy closely, why can't they do it? There are many things I don't know, but that I knew, so there's no reason they should not have been able to execute that. In our Saturday game, WWU just came out of the locker room at half and became too much for the Nooks to handle - Levesque just exploded for some dunks that were pretty dominant. I didn't realize how young the WWU roster is. They've got some guys that are going to be good, if they stay at WWU. I'm less confident in their coaching, but they certainly aren't lacking in potential.

Crazy game in Ellensburg, very happy I saw that in person. NNU is legit though. Anyone who can split with them should consider themselves lucky. Just a back and forth game. Incredible shooting. NNU on the inside is great. CWU shot the lights out. Nearly 1,300 for the crowd. Today's standards, that's a great crowd. No matter what, they were loud and engaged, which is great. 91-88 OT, off-balance three-pointer with a hand in your face is what you dream of.
