CWU forward Chae Haynes in the portal. A transfer from Tacoma CC, I was definitely not impressed with him. While physical, a little on the heavy side, pretty slow and lacked mobility for being only 6'8" (if that).

CWU D1 transfer guard Bralyn Smith in the portal. Transferred from Siena, was a 3 star recruit and #52 SG in his class coming out of HS. Unfortunately, he only saw limited action and was injured for much of the season. The Wildcats had some pretty good success getting D1 transfers up until this past season when all three of them were total busts.

A couple of UAF guys are in the portal. Expect a good portion of Western Oregon's roster to turn over yet once again. I'm hoping we can start retaining some players and building some momentum. Then again some of the guys who are leaving, aren't that great. They probably won't get picked up, maybe division 3. Maybe that's what they want, which is fine. We need more talent yet at the same time we need retention, if that makes sense. Western Oregon did lose one good player in Olson.

I believe one of UAF's guys in the portal transferred in December, so is not new. I think it's fair to say "it was not a good fit". He played a few games in non-con. The other is Jalai O'Keith, a senior this season and 6th man. Not sure on the nitty gritty of the rules, but don't know why O'Keith is transferring.... He's a senior and played here 2 years? UAF has signed a Fairbanks kid who played a couple of decent years in the NWAC and is coming home (Leyton Neild) and have offered a few others as well. I haven't seen any other transfers as of yet and crossing fingers I don't.

Should portal guys get honors? One of our departing players earned all-Academic after putting himself in the portal. IMO, he can get the honor., but shouldn't be recognized for it on the school's website. He just flipped off the school, his coach, and teammates. Let's not reward him for that.

UAA loses Sylas Williams, who the previous year was the NW JC player of the year. Excellent player ... I'm old school, wish guys would stick around. The one game I saw him play he was mostly an inside player, so if he doesn't shoot outside he won't play D1.

Sylas Williams, Cole Johnson and Parker Kroon have all hit the portal in the last couple days for UAA. Not unexpected given the coaching change. Sylas Williams probably ends up at a D1 school, I’m sure he will have no shortage of lower level D1 offers. He’s a 6’7 forward who can create his own shot and rebounds. The other two? Kroon probably will end up at an NAIA program. Johnson probably played well enough to grab another D2 offer but he’s on the bubble I’m sure.

I don’t hate UAA having a lot of open scholarships available to the new coach to build his team as he sees fit.

Well, a good incoming transfer for CWU! Skagit Valley College star Treyshawn Weatherspoon has committed to CWU. He averaged 20.2 PPG, 7.1 apg, and 5.5 RPG last season, winning the NWAC Championship and being named Tournament MVP!

This is your third post I read today. And unlike CWU-Bellingham and 7-9 Florida guy moving to WOU, this one better be valid. LOL

This is real news! Solid local JUCO player, should be CWU's new PG replacement for Jordan Clark

I got totally duped on the 7 ft 9 guy. The CWU-Bellingham thing cracked me up.

The new JC recruit sounds awesome.

CWU Nation mentioned perhaps getting Oregon State 7-footer Gavin Marrs. Well, Gavin put his name in the portal. He's barely played in two years because of injuries. He's from Ellensburg and his brother is on the CWU team, it would be an excellent pickup for the Wildcats. Gavin was the No. 4 ranked prep player in Washington as a senior. His collegiate and prep careers have been MARRed by injury. As a GNAC/D2 fan, I'd love to see him in the conference, and healthy.

This would be cool as long as he's not hurt.
