Here's to hoping it doesn't. I do not think it will either. There's enough vaccinated folks out there and protocols in place that we should be OK. Here in Colorado we're getting our teeth kicked in by COVID right now (limited to no hospital beds available) and that sort of discussion isn't on the table. Omicron is so new that there is nothing to say that it is worse than Delta. Early reports out of South Africa say the opposite, but of course that could change. Therefore I am optimistic that we aren't headed down the cancellation path.

Curious if you sense the game in Golden could go on, perhaps without fans, regardless of what the state health authorities urge/suggest/mandate ?

I just went to an Avalanche game at full capacity, although with a mask requirement and negative test/vaccine proof, but can't imagine they would now mandate no fans for a much smaller crowd that will be outdoors .

Generally, it's mostly business as normal here in Colorado. I don't see a lot of people wearing masks. Mines had nearly 2,500 last week and tickets are being sold for this week's game.

Edit: I should specify, here in Colorado Springs.

Those folks up in the Denver area are mask happy! It would not surprise me if they impose a mask mandate for outdoors.

South African doctors say that symptoms are mild.

I don't know if they're mask happy as opposed to oh damn our hospitals are full that's not good happy. Much of Europe is still in a full mask mandate but there's not been a single case of covid where my niece goes to school, just a matter of priorities.

I'd say it's about 30% wearing masks indoors most places I go which isn't a lot I'll admit as I work from home...but Colorado Springs is much more of a Jesus will save me town rather than science will save me town so it's not the best representation of the rest of the state. This sounds harsh but is bluntly true. El Paso County overall is not an accurate representation of the rest of the state. Why a pandemic has become political I'm not sure but here we are.

Where I go, all the employees are masked while maybe 5-10% of customers are wearing one. I get it about El Paso County; people from all parts of the world come here for USAFA, Carson, Peterson, and the Olympic Training Center.

Of the several hundred thousand that live in the county very few are due to any of what you mentioned. It's just a very conservative part of the state. Take it for what you will but they don't want to wear a mask due to their freedums. The OTC is a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the population. You'd be amazed at those outside of Colorado Springs but in the county that have warnings in the 911 systems about how much they hate the government for example. When fires start on properties out east of the Springs often times fire must wait for police to be on scene before entering the property.

That's interesting. I've been here 20 years and I'll quickly admit I know very little about this town and county. I was probably one of the last people to not be wearing a mask in King Soopers partly because I don't follow the fear-bait by the press and partly because too much was changing too fast and I was having a very extremely difficult time adapting to the changes.

At the Broncos game against the Chargers, the requirement was to wear a mask indoors. Like the bathrooms! Colorado Mines does have really nice facilities even for visitors. Just a pain to get to the stadium. But they are just a bunch of engineers who cant figure that out.

Omicron is very mild - has been around for some time - regardless, covid has a 99.99% survivability for those under 25 - the flu is more deadly for that age group - and the mask only works for someone sneezing or spitting in your face, other than that the virus can pass right through - so live your life and don't buy into the panic porn the media likes to spew - good luck saturday and peace
