Do SEC baseball players now get partial cheerleading scholarships?

Just curious because I've been watching the NCAA baseball playoffs and so far every SEC game I've seen has their bench going through unique synchronized cheering moves. 📣. Is this a new thing for college baseball?

Softball has done it for years. It’s been catching on in guys basketball lately as well. It’s different, but nothing wrong with being a team, all the way through.

There is an "Other Sports" section of the message board that these kinds of topics can go in. In case anyone was not aware of that, since I assume most people come here for the football only. But if you scroll down under the list of all the conferences and then the basketball section, you'll find an Other Sports General Discussion. =)

I played baseball through college, and loved playing it. But am fully aware of how boring it is and how much downtime there is in that game. I can understand trying to keep engaged.

It has for years. Ever seen players celebrate together? Turnover chains, etc. It’s allllllllll the same kind of thing.

Well, I guess I should prepare myself for seeing NASCAR pit crews doing synchronized cheering and boy band moves while their drivers are going around the track. Maybe it will develop into a new best moves competition.

Pit crews don't cheer for drivers when they do well? Crew chiefs don't offer support over the headset? Everyone just stands there perfectly stoic? There are plenty of videos of people jumping up and down.

It’s just not a new thing. Maybe just newish to baseball incorporating the softball style team cheers/chants. But it starts in Little League. Those kids have done it for decades.

Yep, no doubt about it, people celebrate accomplishments and cheer on their favorites on in every sport, but now synchronized cheering and moves in the dugouts, naw I doubt I will ever get used to that.

And yes, I too am glad that I wasn't on your baseball team, because while I could hit and field pretty good, I'm not a good dancer at all. Plus back then, my coach would never put up with synchronized dancing or dressing up like a clown in his dugout.
