  • 26-27 Head Coaching Changes List

With 3 known teams set to have a new Head Coach to start next season, It's time to start up the Head Coach changes list. This is not a "speculate on who loses their job" thread, rather a "who's already gone and who's taking their place" thread. As of 10/27, I know of three in-season changes. If there are more, I will add them. Please DM me or post in the thread. I'll update this post throughout the season, and in the off-season

    IN-SEASON CHANGES

9/20/2026: Southwest Minnesota's Scott Underwood announced his retirement, effective immediately. Combining his record at SMSU at St. Cloud State, he finished with an overall record of 94-92 in 17 seasons. SMSU defensive coordinator Levi Bullerman to finish out season as interim HC.

10/5/2026: Adam Dorrel resigned at Central Oklahoma, 2 days removed from a confrontation with the referee crew at the conclusion of the Central Missouri/Central Oklahoma game. UCO AD Stan Wagnon referred to that in the resignation press release, saying in part that: "His behavior Saturday night was inconsistent with the expectations we have of our leaders." DC Cody Swanson to finish out the season as interim HC.

10/20/2026: Stanley Conner stepped down as head football coach at Lane College. Lane's AD, Jeremy Patterson, to serve as interim HC.

What's the story behind this? I find it interesting that the team is 4-4, but I guess losing to Morehouse was the final straw.

That's the only thing I can think of. I didn't think it was that bad, and they had just beat a pretty good Benedict team the week prior, but apparently it was the first time Morehouse beat them in back-to-back seasons in 30 years.
