Alderson Broaddus Battlers (0-1) lost their home opener in the rain tonight to Wheeling, 34-6. The Cardinals (1-1) controlled the game from the first series and were never really threatened. And the game was delayed in the first quarter for a half hour because of lightning.

I live in California, so I couldn't really tell you what's going on in Philippi, West Virginia. I'm guessing the outlook is pretty bleak after two blow out losses. My hope was that the Battlers would win a game in this short Spring season, but that looks doubtful now. Here's to better results in the Fall season.

Not saying it won't happen, but that would be odd. Due to Fairmont opting out, the MEC North was playing a four game schedule. Seems a little odd that AB would back out after three games with one to play. But AB has a history of doing their own thing.
