  • NE10 Week 10 Pick'Em

Week 9 in the NE10 was a bit on the quiet side with league leader Assumption at home and all the favored teams winning. Now in Week 10 Assumption looks to practically (they still have one game left and St. Anselm has been a pest this season) put the league title out of reach by beating New Haven this week. A New Haven win would mean that the league champion would have no better than a 7-3 record, which isn't good in terms of playoff rankings. Right now 2-loss Assumption isn't in the top 10 of this week's SR1 regional rankings.

And now the recap from last week:
    1. Pace beats AIC 35-25 - Darius Jones and Jhalen Bien-Aime both had big games to lead Pace.
    2. Bentley beats St. Anselm 41-35 - Hawks' luck runs out and their winning streak ends, although they put up quite the fight.
    3. New Haven beats Franklin Pierce 63-0 - Chargers did what they had to do and didn't get trapped before the Assumption game.
    4. Stonehill beats Southern CT State 41-20 - Skyhawks stop their losing streak and improve to 5-3.

The NE10 Pick'Em has three on top with 31 correct picks, and a couple at 30 and 29 picks as well.

The standings for the NE10 Pick'Em are:

For Week 10 the NE10 is in league play with four games, all on Saturday, November 9. Three games are at 12:00 PM and one game is at 1:00 PM. Southern CT State has the week off and will host Pace next week.

    Saturday, Oct. 26:
    1. Bentley (4-4, 4-2) at Franklin Pierce (1-8, 0-7), 12:00 PM - Bentley tries to clinch at least a .500 season and Franklin Pierce is still looking for their first win over a Division 2 school.
    2. St. Anselm (3-6, 3-3) at AIC (3-5, 2-4), 12:00 PM - St. Anselm looks to win their fourth league game of the year and AIC tries for their fourth win this season.
    3. New Haven (5-3, 4-2) at Assumption (6-2, 5-1), 12:00 PM - The winner of this game will have the inside track of winning the NE10 championship provided they win out.
    4. Pace (5-3, 4-2) at Stonehill (5-3, 4-2), 1:00 PM - At stake for both teams is a chance to move up in the standings and have a chance at finishing in second place in the NE10.

        Saturday, Oct. 26:
        1. Bentley (4-4, 4-2) at Franklin Pierce (1-8, 0-7), 12:00 PM - Gonna be cold in the foothills of the Manadnocks. Falcons bring hand warmers.
        2. St. Anselm (3-6, 3-3) at AIC (3-5, 2-4), 12:00 PM - Picking the Hawks to go over .500 mostly to help the leagues only SR1 chance.
        3. New Haven (5-3, 4-2) at Assumption (6-2, 5-1), 12:00 PM - The tail end of the Chesney recruits have something to prove.
        4. Pace (5-3, 4-2) at Stonehill (5-3, 4-2), 1:00 PM - Toss up game of the week. Home team, again to help the leagues only SR1 chance.
Though this NE10Fan is not sure if losing to a 5-2 team is better than beating a 5-2 team. All total Homer picks this week :)

I’ll just say if your team beats mine I’ll be pulling for them to make the playoffs. Ever since I’ve begun following the NE10 Assumption has been really tough and has represented the league well.

I'll be honest, I don't think the Hounds are a great team by any means, they just happen to be the leagues only shot (a long shot) in SR1. After the great high of the National Quarter Finals then to losing the entire coaching staff and starting over last year, I give these players a lot of credit for hanging in there and having a chance to win the league. I don't have as much history as you with the league, but the games between the two teams I have seen have been battles. I expect it to be the same on Saturday.
