How would you rate them in a top 10 ranking at this point in the season?

Teams can be shuffled within these groups of four.

      Kutztown, Charleston, Ohio Dominican, IUP

LIU Post, Notre Dame, New Haven, West Chester

Its early many things can happen, but today it looks like it can be the top 2 teams in the PSAC IUP,WCU then maybe KUTZ? depending on how they finish up. Then top 2 teams from NE10 out of LIU, New Haven and Assumption. They start playing each other soon the top 2 teams will emerge. Then 2 teams from MEC Sheppard and whoever else comes out of there with 1 lose. Lastly the winner of the GMAC. Who knows though, maybe they'll just throw in 4 PSAC teams again

I don't know. The only measuring stick I can use for the GMAC teams is Mercyhurst. Tiffin is undefeated but struggled big time with Mercyhurst (24-20). Hillsdale also barely beat Mercyhurst (but then blew out Ohio Dominican). Findlay was absolutely plastered by Ferris State and also lost to Ohio Dominican.
The early results tell me the GMAC isn't very good this year.

The MEC is going to work itself out. There appears to be 4 teams (more than usual) in the running. Granted, most still have to cross each others' paths.

In the NE10, Assumption looks back to its old self after the season-opening loss to Kutztown (32-28). We know Kutztown is a good team.

All that said, my 'arm chair' Top 10 would be:

          1. IUP - Defending SR1 champ and No. 2 in the poll. Until they are defeated they remain No. 1

          2. Kutztown - Two quality wins (@Assumption and California)

          3. Assumption - Getting better by the game

          4. West Chester - Probably the biggest question mark ... schedule has been awful

          5. Charleston - Forget about that tail whipping IUP dropped on them a couple years ago. They have some big-time talent.

          6. Notre Dame (OH) - They hung on to beat Shepherd but didn't look too hot against a semi-weak Glenville State and West Virginia State

          7. Shepherd - Opening at ND with a new coach, etc., was a tough task. Two easy ones up next (Concord and @West Liberty) prior to a home showdown with Fairmont State

          8. New Haven - Should enter home showdown with Assumption Oct. 20 on a roll

          9. LIU Post - Undefeated but they've played an awful schedule. We'll learn a bit more in two weeks with their trip to Shippensburg.

          10. Ohio Dominican - Has played a very tough schedule with wins over Cal, Ashland and Findlay. The Hillsdale loss could have just been a bad day.

          Next in line:

Cal, Edinboro, Fairmont State, Slippery Rock, Hillsdale, Tiffin

All in all ... just not enough data yet. This weekend will clear up a good bit.

Urbana held on last night at UC and continued to muddy the MEC field.
The Mountain East is going to beat each other up the rest of the way.

Yep. They will cannibalize each other down there.

That is a big win for Urbana. There was some serious Charleston kool-aid being consumed down in WV.

Thanks, IUPbigIndians! Great post. Am sure many are already wondering how things stand in SR1 with respect to playoff possibilities even at this early date! Good job!

Depending on what happens in the Kutztown-West Chester game on October 27 AND if Cal runs the table (which is not a foregone conclusion), they could meet in the State Game. Just throwing that out there.

If CALU makes it and face WCU, the RAMS lose the home field that was scheduled for week 11. Weird.
And if it's KUTZ, the VULCANS get a replay at ADAMSON. Nice.
