  • OT: Philadelphia Public League playoffs

I know Philly isn't known for its powerhouse public school high school football teams (minus Imhotep), but check this out: Philadelphia Central played Samuel Fels in a **playoff** game where the teams entered with a combined record of 0-16.

That link is to an overall Public League playoffs preview story.

Central won the game, BTW, 60-0

The Philadelphia Public League has a few good teams that will give the PCL a fair run for their money. Imhotep, Northeast & Boys Latin will all be a tough outing. Northeast actually accepted the call to play St. Frances of Baltimore (#7 in the country) and played them tough before falling 36-0. Final score got inflated the last quarter but the return game next season should be more competitive. Imhotep has been in the state finals the last 3-4 years. With the PIAA expanding classes it's made it possible for the piss poor teams in both the CL and PL in Philly to make the playoffs with 0-2 regular season wins and as a result when they get to the playoffs they generally get crushed by 30-40 points easily.

That's either a really explosive 0-8 team, or a really, really bad 0-8 team.

Fels sucks lol. My cousin played for them as a sophomore last year, wasn't really good and said they were terrible lol. Basically it's kids who if they went to other schools would be JV players at best. Outside of Jylil Reeder from ESU they haven't sent kids to play college football

Good to hear a couple of those programs are improving on the football field.
