This is an annual recurring theme. Lack of discipline and a lack of accountability. Must be recognized, admitted, and corrected - if not by the coaches, then by the administration.

Not a popular statement and some IUP homers willl bury their heads even further into the sand and decry "there is nothing to see here, all is well" .....

Yeah, its true if you believe that the penalties, like unnecessary roughness, taunting, celebration were all called fairly, in line with what is typical elsewhere. I think some of the discussion is that while the IUP player behavior is not that different from other teams, they get penalized more. If you watched the PSU - Michigan game, there was a clear difference in what was allowed compared with an average IUP or even PSAC game. Given that PI and Holding seem kinda high too, for judgement calls, its not unreasonable to wonder if the refs are calling things more than they should.

This is a comparison of IUP teams per the box score stats (year and per game average penalty yards against):

        2019 - 106 ypg (76 called flags through 7 games)
        2018 - 70 (78 total)
        2017 - 75 (108 total)
        2016 - 63 (81 total)
        2015 - 71 (89 total)
        2014 - 74 (83 total)
        2013 - 91 (91 total)
        2012 - 79 (123 total)
        2011 - 86 (83 total)

As you can see, they are up a tremendous amount over last year (already) with four games to go.

Like it or not, IUP is gaining a reputation for penalties and that breeds more attention from the refs, and more flags. The only way to change the trend is to make a focused effort for "clean" play and change the on field perception.

Perception is reality. Change it, before it causes greater damage.

Glad to see the IUP penalties were low against Gannon. It appeared there were a few times that Gannon wanted to engage in some extra curricular activity, but IUP held back.

The refs let them play for the most part. There wasn't much funny business from either side.

When Gannon was about to enter the stadium before the game they stood down there and screamed for about 30 seconds. They at least appeared pumped up. Then it was 14-0 in a second and the balloon popped.

As I said Saturday, seeing them live ... they are a shell of the original #LIT-AF team. This group doesn't seem to be buying what the coach is selling -- put it that way. They have some nice athletes. The RB, Blanks, could play anywhere in the PSAC. But, overall, the cupboard is pretty bare. For as long as he's been there ... to be this young is a bad sign.

IUP 'announced' a crowd of almost 4,000 there Saturday. At halftime I'd guess nearly 75% of whatever number was actually there left. It was 28-0, cold, windy and rainy. The cool thing was you could hear everything in the second half.
