A day later and I'm still annoyed. Not about the loss but about the complete lack of class the Slippery Rock players showed after the game. Couldn't even line up to shake hands because they were too busy taunting KU players and fans. Doing back flips and sitting on the Golden Bear logo at midfield. No coaches came out to get to the players so I guess they endorse that behavior. I would be embarrassed to have players and coaches like that represent my school.

Win or lose I can still say I'm proud to be a KU fan.

Then penalties completely unraveled the drive and they had to punt.

For me, it's going to be really hard to not be bitter about this one for a while. I don't want to sound disrespectful to SRU, but this felt more like Kutztown losing the game than SRU winning it.

I do think it's worth wondering whether or not the bye had an effect based on how poorly Kutztown played.
That was an awful pass by Judd. If the throw was better, could have been a first down or more. That drive that ended in a KU FG hurt them. They needed to score a TD, but had to settle for a FG.

I got to celebrate two championships in a different sport this season as a fan, so I'm just going to chalk today's loss up to the universe correcting itself. 😂

Kutztown gets knocked out by Rock on a trick play 2 point conversion. The Bears were wildly inconsistent today. So let's break down this loss.

The defense was inconsistent. Unable to get consistent enough pressure against Rock. The secondary played too soft coverage all game. The times they were successful on defense was when the secondary was aggressive with Rock's receivers.

The offense strongest suit today was when they ran the ball. Unfortunately, they didn't run it at times when they should had (end of first half). The passing game was almost non-existent today outside a few big passes. I don't know whether it was due to the windy conditions or the lack of faith in Judd or whatever.

Coaching was probably the biggest offender today. Probably one of the more recent games where coaching costed the game. Where do I begin; failure to adjust pass defense, failure to manage the clock, failure to establish a pass offense, etc. I don't want to go too in-depth with coaching and player assessment, save that for the season grading wrap up.

Overall, I'm disappointed, I'm gonna sulk and catch up on geopolitics. I want to be petty so badly, but maybe not a good idea to do.

    Kutztown = ROCK's Kryptonite

ROCK QB Brayden Long is 22-4 as a starter (3 losses to K'Town); in 26 starts he has thrown a total of 10 int (4 against K'Town)

Kutztown is last team to win a night game at THE ROCK (2012), ROCK record in home night game since 2010 (35-1) and have won 27 in a row since the loss in 2012

Here is how Clements has done against Slippery Rock since he has been coaching KU. Since 2014, Clements has gone 5-2 against SRU. Clements is currently on a 4 game win streak against The Rock. Of those seven match ups, three of them were for the PSAC Championship. Clements is 2-1 against SRU in the PSAC Championship game. Last time they met, KU and SRU faced off in the SR1 championship match that saw KU beat SRU 28-16. This will be the second time in a year that these two meet in the playoffs.

Kutztown has a total number of 9 guys named to PSAC East First Team All Conference for 2024. 3 guys on offense, but those 3 take up the majority of the O-Line group. They are RS Junior OT Ryan Scherneke, RS Junior OG Billy Everitt, and Senior OG Adam Kase. 5 of the 6 guys on defense are the front line trenches. They are RS Senior DL Brayden Pohlman, RS Sophomore DL Freddie Retter, RS Senior DL Masen Wilson, GS LB Jalen DeVose, RS Sophomore LB Eden Johnson, and RS Senior DB Drew Hensor.

6 guys were named to PSAC East Second Team All Conference. They are RS Sophomore QB Judd Novak, Junior RB Jaedyn Stewart, Senior OT Andrew Stackhouse, Senior C Trey Quinones, GS WR Kurtis Ravenel Jr., and GS DB Khi'on Smith. Congrats to all our KU guys who were selected this year.

Update: Totally missed this; Freddie Retter wins PSAC East Defensive Player of the Year and Jim Clements wins PSAC East Coach of the Year.

Hopefully they'll take the time to rest and strategize. We could see Slippery Rock, again.

Kutztown gets the #1 seed in SR1 and a first round bye. Good to get everyone rested and healthy for a deep playoff run.

He has been fine as a passer, but his decision making all season long has been questionable. Whether it's holding on for the ball too long trying to be a hero, putting too much juice on a throw, he needs to fix his decision making. I think if they can fix that up in who knows however much time they get, they could win the region.
Novak isn't super flashy and isn't going to light up the box score but he makes plays and wins games.Hard to argue with the results.

Great season from the Bears. Looking forward to another playoff run.

Hopefully our AD remembered to submit a bid to host the playoffs this season.

Cal's offense is good while KU's defense is good. Cal's defense is okay while KU's offense is okay. Can KU's not so high-powered offense be consistent enough to give their defense some breathing room. Or can Cal's defense stand tall and let their offense go crazy. It'll be a tough game (though most of us last year thought the PSAC title game between Rock and KU would be a slug fest).
I wouldn't give the VULCANS any chance except for the SRU game. Aside from the handover '16 team, Gary Dunn has had no chance against THE ROCK. Either he knew something that the rest of us didn't on 10/19 or perhaps CALU is better than we suspect. I do hope so but I don't feel so.
