    2023 Pick'ems Week 1 and Introduction

    It's time for the 2023 CIAA Pick'ems. I'm helping out gr8ness97 this year and running the Pick'ems. If my math is correct I believe LT93bunny pulled out the championship with callen and gr8ness close behind. The first two weeks of the season are the out of conference games, so if you want to win this thing and have your name engraved on the digital wall of Pick'em champs then coming out strong in Week 1 and Week 2 is vital.

    Same rules from prior seasons apply. You have until 1 hour before the first game (on a Thursday or Saturday) to post your picks (if you miss the Thursday picks still post in time for Saturday so you earn some points). Tiebreakers are broken via the number of games one has participated in over the course of the season. This system is done to keep individuals engaged in Pick'ems all year long.

      Fayetteville State @ UNCP (MEC) If FSU can find improvement at the QB spot, I can see them winning this game.
      Clarion (PSAC) @ Lincoln Toss up game. I'm picking Lincoln only because they're at home. Simple as that.

      Bowie State @ Del State (D1 FCS) This might be a setup for an upset.
      JCSU @ WV Wesleyan (MEC)
      Catawba (SAC) @ ECSU This won't be a fair fight
      Virginia State @ Norfolk State (D1 FCS)
      WSSU @ NC Central (D1 FCS) Just hoping it won't be as bad as expected; an established NCCU vs a D2 school with a new offense that is currently being installed.

                Fayetteville State @ UNCP (MEC) - UNCP's new coach (Chowan's former coach) and UNCP should be extremely motivated to beat FSU after last season. Plus I don't have faith in FSU.
                Clarion (PSAC) @ Lincoln - Lincoln has a chance, but I'm not bold enough to pick them.

                September 2

                Bowie State @ Del State (D1 FCS) - I don't think this Bowie team will have enough to beat Del State, but I think this will be close.
                JCSU @ WV Wesleyan (MEC) - JCSU is trending up and WV Wesleyan has only won 1 game since Covid.
                Catawba (SAC) @ ECSU - Cat U has fallen on rough times but I don't think ECSU has what it takes to take advantage of the situation.
                Virginia State @ Norfolk State (D1 FCS) - Same with the Bowie game. When VSU is loaded I think they can beat NSU, but I just don't think they have all the pieces this year.
                WSSU @ NC Central (D1 FCS) - We just need to cash the check and pull our starters out of the game early. If we can at least keep this thing close for a half then I see that as a moral victory.
                St Augs @ Lenoir-Rhyne (SAC) - This is going to get really ugly. I'd guess LR by at least 40.
                Bluefield State @ Livingstone - It's the battle of the Blue. I don't know what to think of this game so I'll go with Blue State.
                Shaw @ Benedict (SIAC) - Benedict was really good last year and I think they are building off that success. I think Shaw will play them tough, but Benedict should win this one.

                    Fayetteville State @ UNCP (MEC) This has the makings of being an interesting game.
                    FSU no doubt has some excellent returning O-linemen, the problem is this year's Bronco's depth at that important position, especially if the game time temperature is above 80 degrees. Stamina will come into play early on. Even with new coaches, the UNCP Braves overall depth (basically at all positions) will play a major roll. I have a feeling that the Brave's large stable of talented (and fast) receivers will freely rotate and will put up some big numbers. The new look Braves will take this one.

                        Long time First time - please let this work for me.

                        Fayetteville State @ UNCP (MEC) - The amount of people picking FSU is concerning to me, BUT I have a hard time believing they can do it again.
                        Clarion(PSAC) @ Lincoln - Lincoln is A LOT better than I remember them ever being, and Clarion is A LOT worse than they even used to be. Take the home team in a game of stinkers.

                        September 2

                        Bowie State @ Del State (D1 FCS) - This will be a lot closer than you think, but take the home FCS team, I'll probably regret this one.
                        JCSU @ WV Wesleyan (MEC) - JCSU should not stink with their location and they are actually improving, and it seems that the school finally is starting to care. WVW however, I don't see it.
                        Catawba (SAC) @ ECSU - Gotta have faith in a SAC school, even one like Catawba.
                        Virginia State @ Norfolk State (D1 FCS) - Same with the Bowie game. Probably closer than you would think, but take the home FCS team (again I hope I don't regret this)
                        WSSU @ NC Central (D1 FCS) - There's no such thing as moral victories, but that check will cash all the same.
                        St Augs @ Lenoir-Rhyne (SAC) - LOL I hope coach Jacobs is in the holiday mood for the Falcons cause pick a spread number and I'm still taking the Bears.
                        Bluefield State @ Livingstone - Both these teams stink, but Livingstone stinks more.
                        Shaw @ Benedict (SIAC) - Shaw will compete, they always have. But Benedict should have the firepower still

                              Cant believe people picked Morehouse over VA Union. Oh most don't follow the CIAA. It make sense now.
