True, from the McNeese Twitter, it looks like this was probably a done deal a while ago.

Herb told the press Gary told him at about 1:30 Sunday morning. Totally blind-sided him. Players were told on the plane when we landed in Valdosta. Shocked all the way around.

Reports indicate Gary is getting the biggest contract in McNeese history. I heard 3 year $1.6million with 2 year option, but cannot verify the $ amount although it should be public record somewhere. Big raise, closer to family, and D1 is hard to resist!

Definitely wish him the best. He will have a tough row to hoe but has a track record for building programs (Tiffin). McNeese seems thrilled to have him!

Spencer mentioned at basketball last night that he is the 9th VSU coach currently in D1, although he might have forgotten a couple!

A little disappointed but that is football. We didn't really get to see Golfs recruits (Maybe some) play as starters. A lot of the success of this team was still from the previous head coaches recruits but he did a heck of a job with them. If you think about it Bell really only had one good season but it was an incredible one. I think he would have repeated. Kind of difficult for Golf to follow.

OK. Thanks. They left after arriving back in Valdosta then. Goff told the audience Monday that they got in Sunday night, so that adds up. They were posted on McNeese Football Twitter on Sunday.
