I wish "Coach Gilligan" (as UWA's guest announcer kept calling him) was on a Mayflower Van with all his stuff.

That was former UWA great, Kendrick Office. Played a 2 or 3 yrs with the Bills. He is a HS football coach over at Demopolis now. Yeah, I kept hoping Will would write down to him that it is Coach Gilliland and Gilligan, but it could have been on purpose. I thought I saw some goofiness like you'd see on Gilligans Island out there on offense and defense. I'm not sure you can blame it all on the offense today. Our defense got steamrolled. Here is what I don't get. If your QB1a and QB1b are playing like crap in every game, why not try QB2 and maybe even QB3. Prep for the future. I would do like Coach Wallace did his 1st few years. Find some mean ass OL, and just give it to Webb 90 percent of the time, with the occasional long pass. Our passing game is horrible to be a modern offense. If we were a wishbone, maybe I wouldn't feel too bad about the passing game. Its sad to watch. I feel like I'm watching the years of 1988-2005 again, what I call the LOSER years. Congrats to Coach Cooley and DSU on a huge win.

In the “loser” years a football scholarship got you one free blue book and a couple of #2 pencils. UWA now does as much as the next guy so this is much worse IMO.

Gilligan was NEVER THAT GOOFY. I kept looking for The Skipper The Howells., Mary Ann, etc. For DAXXM sure The Professor WASN'T there.
Every year since Coach Gilligan has been there, the team has had a late season slump, this year they started eraly. I see them MAYBE with 2 more wins, but if Chowan's players are out on probabtion, maybe(maybe) one more.

DSU offense looks virtually unstoppable again this year but the defense can be suspect at times. UWA is the first real test this season IMO and I would expect a closer game than some. Looking forward to Saturday! Last trip over there was an instant classic.

No brother. UWA was no test they handled us easily in the first quarter.

What I am hearing is Gilligan has complete support from UWA President. Why would they spend all that money to revamp the stadium and build great buildings if they are giving up football?

Well it all depends on who is donating the big bucks for all of this right? In regards to if President Tucker is feeling any heat about the football team, idk, is he? If the money is part of that state surplus of $11 million that was given to UWA, then there is not going to be any pressure on the admin to light a fire under Coach G because the governor doesn’t care at all if UWA wins or loses. This is why I need to win that billion dollar lotto so I can apply some good hearted pressure on the admin, are the new upgrades at stadium and homer field house private money or state money? It’s so mind boggling that Brett who is a former QB himself doesn’t have a good QB room. Or here is a question could a Coach Wallace or Coach Hall make any of these QB’s we have look and play like all Americans or all conference QB’s? Essentially is it a coaching issue? One thing I’ve always heard is Brett is very close with his coaching staff. You can be cordial to them, but you gotta go Saban on them when they’re not doing their jobs and I’m not sure I’ve ever seen Brett go Saban on anyone. One last note, I watched DSU’s OL and our OL. Our OL is way bigger then their OL, but ours looks and plays soft, they look out of shape and not quick and staying with their blocks till the whistle. DSU’s OL looked very slim and trim, quick and they stayed with their blocks till the end. At least we finally found a kicker.

I don’t really understand how a playoff contending West Ala. with a powerful offense and defense that battled the Argos 48-45 in 2021 just disappeared within a couple of years with the same coaching staff and the same players due to Covid extensions. The Tigers do appear to be shipwrecked on Gilligan’s Island.
