As we are beginning football season, my thoughts again go to Jan and how important she was to those of us in Blazer Nation and to all of you who only knew her through this message board. I took time to reread all the heartfelt messages about Jan and know that she would have been so touched to know what her friendship meant to all of us. I no longer live near Valdosta so I can’t attend the games this season, but in my heart I’m dedicating this season to Janice Lowe, our Blazer Lady! If your favorite team happens to lose to VSU this year, take comfort in knowing Jan is smiling. Best wishes to all for a great season of football!

Wow, I know there will be lots more salutes to BL coming, as we all file back in for football season. I'm trying to remember when we first connected, I believe it was after my first time playing GSC Pick'um. I was bad at it and wanted to quit midseason but seeing all the work she put into it every week, I thought I had to give it the old college try. I believe I finished the year near the top, if not it sure felt that way.
I went to see the last time BL & I interacted and I have one unread PM, it's from BL. I take our last loss every season pretty hard, so I'm sure the message was from that week.
I'm happy to have known you BL. The GSC forum won't be the same without you.

Really sad to hear about her passing. She's been on my list of people here that I've wanted to meet, just hadn't happened yet. Just goes to show that you should get to that game and go to that meetup. Any word on VSU doing a memorial bench or tree in her memory? Something probably near either the Math building or VSU athletics would probably be a good spot for it.

As UWG moves to Div 1, the one thing I was really regretting was the interaction with BlazerLady. She made the GSC message board fun. We had great interaction as VSU and UWG were instate rivals but she was fun. We talked when she came to Carrollton and I got to speak to her in Valdosta. She was Red and Black through and through. Great person and great supporter of VSU. Prayers for her family, friends and school. She is missed.

What sad news. I always enjoyed her posts and the times I interacted with her.

Jan was the first one to welcome me and speak to me when I got on this board. She pointed out to me that my user name is probably going to cause people on the board to call me wart, which of course with my Livingston Sumter county stubbornness I just laughed her off. It didn’t take long for me to realize what a kind and wise woman She was. I enjoyed her tailgates greatly and she always made me feel as though I was VSU family knowing I wasn’t and there was the occasional recruitment of trying to change my colors from UWA to VSU. She always made a great argument in defense of VSU. Jan was the ultimate All-American and All-Region and All-GSC. I say build a statue in her honor, but i can hear her now, “I don’t won’t a statue, I just want another Natty’. She loved those VSU athletes and I truly believe she loved all of us as well, even Robert guitar. You will be missed BL, your wisdom, your humor, your football IQ that ran circles around mine, your cookies, your posts, your love for GSC and VSU football, your private mssgs just checking on us, and I could go on. It’s a sad time to think you are no longer here to keep all of us straight and Lord knows we need it and are going to miss it from you. God bless Jan and RIP darlin. I’ve never done this before but I’ll do it now, this is for you BL. GO VSU BLAZERS!!!!

I am sorry to hear this news and she will be sorely missed by everyone at Valdosta and in this D2 community. She helped me out with advice when I first began posting comments on the GSC forum and invited me to her tailgates at Valdosta in 2019. I made two trips that year to her tailgate and she could not have been more gracious and welcoming to me and my children. The Blazers have lost a great one.

Blazer Lady was all class on this board and sounds like she was in all her dealings elsewhere as well. Had a post from her just a few days ago so apparently her passing was very unexpected. Going to miss her on this board for she was very insightful.

We maybe only interacted a couple of times - but I know she was an incredibly active board member and I enjoyed her view on things.
Very sad to hear.
