We'll definitely be home next week to welcome Slippery Rock or one of the Minnesota teams. I like our chances against any of them. If we hold serve we'll get Ferris for a 3rd got at it, I believe with a third coach.

It is interesting, as far as I know VSU is the only multi-championship team that wins every four or five years with a different coach and a completely different team. Most multi-year champs win several in a row or over the course of a few years, not a few decades!

This program has had a down year or two hear and there but we have been remarkably consistent. I credit to th amount of South Georgia recruits we get.

Grand Valley State and Northwest Mizzou State come to mind.

Grand Valley won their 4 championships from 2001-2006 (2 coaches), with the Blazers taking the 2004 trophy after losing by a TD in the final minute in 2002. Forgot about NWMS winning in 98 and 99! They also won in 20009, 2013, 2015, and 2016, losing to the Blazers in 2012, and also mostly βgroupedβ wins under only 2 coaches. Even North Al won their 3 championships over consecutive years.
VSU made appearances in 2002 (Hatcher) and 2021 (Goff), winning in 2004 (Hatcher), 2007 and 2012 (Dean), and 2018 (Bell). So appearances and wins under 4 different coaches in the oughts, teens, and 20s.
I guess my point was VSU hasnβt really had great teams that win consecutive championships, but they re-build to national championship level with fresh faces every 4-6 years or so.

I know I am Pedantic but Northwest lost to VSU in 07. We best WSSU in 12.

Not pedantic at all! Thank you for the correction! Part of the Mel Tjeerdsma years, if I recall.
I have produced the Coachβs Show highlight footage for every VSU game home and away since 1997, they start to run together a bit. Now if the NCAA would let us use footage from this yearβs playoffs without such high user fees ($2k per game, same as D1 schools)β¦
