I don't think GSC should depend on Conference Carolinas too far past the the two year agreement. CC definitely has plans to expand to at least 8 schools and maybe 9.

The GSC 100% shouldn't depend on CC, or any other conference, but I don't have much faith in the GSC office. If I'm Delta, Valdosta, and West Alabama, I'm looking to find stability elsewhere.

There's no cap at 8 or 10, for example, the NSIC has 14 schools and the CIAA presently has 11 football schools, and it's working for them.

Agreed, but I'm saying a loss to a GSC team is better than a loss to Miles

            No quite accurate...

            2005 - Harding Beat VSU
2006 - No Compettitive games but we didn't play Henderson or Harding
            2007 - VSU beat Arkansas Tech 28/27 (that's compettitive)
2008 - Henderson and Harding against VSU were noe score games
2009 - Ouachita Baptist beat VSU
2010 - Arkansas–Monticello and Ouachita Baptist were one Score Games
2011 - [First year of GAC]Arkansas–Monticello beat VSU

The point you were probably making is that they were not conference champion or NC level which is of course correct but they were compettive before they left

I heard by my grandson that is a student a DSU and helps out in the athletic dept that the Gulf South Conference was looking in to closing the conference and move to another conference. Only hear say. Something more long lasting than scrambling every epuear for a school that has football.

I think the point is competitive nationally. I've gone back and forth on my opinion on this. However, whatever you think of the GAC and the teams in it, the conference is at least viable, which is more than the football members of the GSC can say.

Sorry, this sounds like you're saying the rumor is the GSC is looking in to shutting down the conference? That can't be right with 8 non football members? Or did you just mean the rumor is that Delta State is looking to leave the GSC?

Interesting—Virginia State joins #GSCwlax in 2026 as an affiliate member — becoming the league’s first HBCU program.

I gathered by the GSCwlax hashtag. I found it interesting that the conference had a HBCU joining in a sport with the same issue as football.
