  • UWA vs VSU

I've watched a lot of football in my long life. In particular I have attempted to watch UWA's last 3 games.
Now, I don't know how today's game will end, but I noticed one common condition in the 2 previous games and that same condition so far in the current game.
I will share IMHO what that condition is.... OUT COACHED. Pick any category... from play calling, to discipline, and there you have it.

discipline (or total lack thereof) seems to have pulled ahead

Out coached?? With that star studded coaching staff? Haha.

Most undisciplined and unmotivated I have seen a WA team in a while. Amazing after you all got what you wanted with a New HC. You begged for this, right?

Most fans didn't beg for this. We had a great coach. Most fans were worried about most of our staff never coaching a college football game.

I made a point to go to the game yesterday as it will most likely be the only GSC matchup I will be able to attend this year, and I was not disappointed. It was a real nail biter, even tho VSU led the whole game, it felt like we never had total control.

I thought VSU looked pretty good in person. My biggest frustration would be probably be the lack of our run game really taking off (except for a few Big plays). The QB played well, the Offense put points on the board, the Defense made some big stops, and the kicking/punting game was on point. There were a few mishaps, and emotions led to a few easily avoidable penalties, but the VSU team that showed up and played Saturday reminded me of many of the great Blazer teams of the past. Even when momentum swung against us, we had playmakers rise up, make big plays, and win the game.

West Alabama had some great athletes, and I thought it was cool that they brought their band, but the penalties ate them alive. They even got away with some obvious holds, but still had close to a hundred yards worth called against them.

With the GSC being down to four teams, I feel like every conference game is a rivalry game, and with that, rankings and records up to game day count for very little. I know Delta State will be ready to play on Saturday, and I hope to see the Blazers build on this momentum, our many playmakers rise to the occasion, and VSU fight towards another GSC championship.
