Argos lose 4 starters on both offense and defense and pick up another very unusual D2 story in QB Bubba Thompson. He is a 27 year old sophomore who walked on to South Alabama as a freshman after retiring from Major League Baseball.

He played 7 years in professional baseball including a few years in the majors. He was recruited in both baseball and football by multiple SEC teams before deciding on professional baseball.

It’s crazy to think he could be a 30 year old college football QB senior, but that is college sports in 2026. In his senior year of HS football he passed for over 3,000 yards in leading his team to Alabama state title and he was top 10 fastest OF in majors. This is crazier story than Ferris State’s lacrosse champion QB.
