  • LR vs UVA WISE

I really hope the bears don’t go to Wise and lose for the 2nd year in a row. That was so disappointing as nobody expected Wise to win that game. It seems similar to the situation this year. But I expect the Bears to win.

We all need to understand, however, that the Bears have recently beaten 2 of the 3 worst teams they will face this year (the other is Catawba). So I understand bear nation feeling a little better after an ugly outing vs Ferris State, but dont misread the situation. The bears didn’t handily beat a bad Carson Newman team. Sean White is mediocre at best and Dewayne McGee was disappointing again except for a run in the 4th quarter.

Also I think it important to note that I was right about Cagle at QB. Everyone else was saying how well he performed in fall camp and how he was ready to be QB1, but I warned you otherwise. (Also not sure how a team is lacking leadership so badly that a backup qb is your captain). Anyways, now I am also warning you to not hype up Sean White just yet. You seen how bad he played vs Ferris so don’t let these last two bad opponents make you think he is an above average QB.

Over the next 6 weeks any of these opponents could beat the bears. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them drop 3 of the next 6 games. And if they somehow make it to the SAC championship game, they will certainly face a tough opponent that week as well.

I hope I am wrong about my predictions. Let’s go Bears!

d2Superfan, I also hope that you and I are wrong, I was happier, and said so, after the Carson Newman game. I was happy for the win at Eskrine but was very cautious because I did not think I saw a strong offense at all.

However, depending on the weather, I am planning to make that 4 hour trip to Wise (I can take little rain, not a pure downpour) , as I did last year. And I will be pulling for my the Bears to put another win on the scoreboard.

While I am not sold on the coaching staff (I feel like we did see a better job against CN both by offensive as well as the defensive coaching) I want to say clearly that I DO ABSOLUTELY have confidence that AD PATE and President Whit will make the best decisions possible for the future of LRU, both in the short and long term. They made correcting decisions with both Keller and Shield. I feel sure that they will do the same in this situation if they come to the decision that Jacobs et al is/are not making progress toward meeting the objective laid out when they were hired.

They see much more than any of us fans, they have more information. I trust them.

      Go Bears.

                  Yeah, that was pretty bad.

9:09 PM and just getting home from Wise. I am happy to report that, in at least my opinion, there was a considerable difference in the demeanor of the coaches, in the players, in their interactions,
from the very beginning. Again, at least to me, it was noticeable from the beginning. Much more positivity, more supportive of each other even when mistakes were made. It was a real pleasure to see it, LOL even though it did get a bit cool weather wise! But as always I was prepared for it.

No one can say every ill is resolved but, hopefully, the team and coaches are in a much better place and everyone is moving in the same direction. At least for the 45 or so Bear fans that made the trip, it was a pretty doggone good trip.

Bears defense has dominating game against Va. Wise. Progress on offense continues with improved continuity of play action offense. We could use some better power running plays though on short yardage downs. I think they call it hippos plays. Looks like Limestone has improved since CN game and we will need to be focused on all aspects of the game for a victory.
