As teams fade from relevance, and based on past recruiting, today's potential high school football recruits tend to look at what teams programs, and coaches have accomplished in recent years. Going back more than 5 years makes things pretty much irrelevant, as they don't really care about how teams did back when they were infants or in elementary school.

What would the D2 chart look like based on the last 5 years? Also, please exclude teams which are no longer playing at the Division 2 level.

Question, Do you want me to do past 5 full seasons and include 2023 or do past 4 plus 2023?

Either way would be much appreciated! By the way, I hope You and your Family have a great Thanksgiving week!

This is updated including this past weekends playoff games. Could drastically change depending on this week.

            Had to make a correction.

So it appears to me region two and especially the GSC have have about the best overall performance over this time frame. Last ten years is probably just as good. Interesting information and thanks for posting.

Well then you add in Ferris. And if you go back 10 years a lot more Northwest.

Depends on the kid. Rich history and tradition makes up for a lot. Example, what else would Michigan had to get kids when Harbaugh came? They were irrelevant since Appalachian State. You also gotta remember there are odd and end things kids like now when being recruited. Like kids picking schools based on uniforms, which happens a lot more than people want to admit. I think these original rankings also allow a total show foe the program. It's easy for a team to have 1 great year and four bleh years and it make it look like a top tier program.

So if LR wins Saturday and Valdosta loses Bears have best win % on your chart. I sure hope LR doesn’t lay an egg Saturday if you know what I mean. Curious if there’s one particular thing that stood out from your tour of Bears facilities.

Maybe but it won't change that much in the rankings. W% is a small part of it. Playoff appearances and win's is what matters. Conference titles don't factor at all.

One problem I see with the original charts is that they include programs which have been in a decline in recent years, and at this time, the prospects of improving is questionable. Two of them are WSSU and Catawba, with another couple that are borderline of falling into that same category.

wSSu I'd agree with. some (not me) think they only had the success they did because of dropping down from FCS. Idk if I buy that. But outside of Bowie I don't give anyone in the CIAA credence moving forward. bowie actually won playoff games against SR2 competition. The others just got embarrassed.

If you watched Catawba this year and dont think they are improving then I disagree. They were an absolute doormat from 2018 to 2022. But again, historical success matters to some kids.

The SR2 chart could look insanely different in a few years with UWG moving up, and then people being convinced UWF and VSU are next. And with 2025 potential regional realignment who knows.

The one thing I don't care foCain my formula is sometimes 1 or 2 really good years can alter it. Like Wayne State making 1 title game, but 1 playoff appearance. Or making the playoffs twice in 20 years but not doing anything the rest. But that's OK. I can deal w it
