  • Incoming Portal Transfers

There has been a lot of talk on the board regarding people transferring out (especially for LR), does anyone have any information on players transferring in to LR or the other SAC schools? I'm hoping some talent comes in to our conference's programs and doesn't just head the other direction.

These are the people LR has coming in that I know about. Good chance there are more:

    - Zion Agnew WR from ECU
    - Jason Campbell WR from Miami (FL)
    - Nic Cheeley DB from Eastern Kentucky
    - Erik Garrett OL from North Greenville
    - Anthony Hightower DB from JUCO
    - JT Black DL from Keiser
    - Chris Wehnert OL from Keiser
    - Jaelin Willis LB from Keiser (two time NAIA all American)

LR continues to stack the WR room, per Juju’s Facebook post last night
“…Lenoir-Rhyne Football and head coach Doug Socha continue to add to the Bears ‘24 roster. The latest acquisition is Jacob Bell , a 6’3”, 190 graduate transfer from DI Murray State, a two-time All-Conference wide receiver from Vero Beach Fla. ;who is one of 15 transfers since the Spring to sign. LR has approximately 80 players that are in Hickory participating in Summer workouts. Training camp is set to begin August 14th”

Bell may be a much better fit for LR than Murray State where he averaged 13.7 yards per game this past season, primarily as a backup.

So it stated he was all conference two times. Are you sure you have the correct information on Bell?

Averaged 25.5 YPG in years at Murray. Career high was 21 catches for 305 yards. Not arguing just posting the stats

All told, competition is a good thing. Not really sure I feel like getting in a pissing match about stats. I'm with many Bears fans in thinking that the WR room is possibly the strongest position group on the team and this only helps to strengthen it. Had two fantastic smaller receivers last year in Yates and Rodgers plus Dom Marshall is returning (I think) to add some size on the outside. Add to that some of our younger players like McDaniel and McArthur AND transfers from 3 DI schools (Miami, ECU, Murray State) and we could be putting up some very unLR-like passing numbers.

You're correct. Last season he averaged 13.7 YPG in the games he played. I would expect to see higher numbers for him in D2.

No stats for the ECU WR transfer because didn't play in any games. He was pretty good back in highschool though.

Jason Campbell, Miami WR transfer also did not see any game action while with the Hurricanes.

I loved watching Rodgers and Yates. So much fun once they get the ball in their hands.

All in all, I have a feeling that Jaelin Willis, LB transfer from NAIA Keiser will end up being the most impactful transfer for LR.

Eagle74 With great sadness, I have some terrible news. The Dawg Pound is CLOSING. Not only does this mean that myself and BearFan1 may never be able to remedy our differences but that you will also never be able to enjoy a delightful wiener in Hickory ever again. Truly a devastating situation.

FootballCoach. please tell me the news is not so! I was so looking forward to making peace over a couple of the Best Dawg's ever.
Perhaps we will have to tailgate our Dawgs at a slow and delicious paste this year.

Sad to hear, but it's happening more and more to struggling independent restaurants across the country especially in the past couple of years, and it's probably going to get worse in coming months. This, as a few keep saying 'the economy is doing great' 🤥
