  • SOS Matters!

This year proves again that a strong (in-region) SOS helps good teams in making the playoffs.

With that being said, I believe more SAC teams should schedule 'in region' GSC teams next season, not only to strengthen their schedules, but to also prove their true relevance in consistently competing at a high D2 level. Sure, I know a SAC team will occasionally beat a GSC team, but It's been repeated many times, to be the best, you've got to 'consistently' play and beat the best!

I agree and its my understanding LR has a home and away game with WFla. In 25,26. CN use to do that with NAla. We did it with WAla couple years back. I could be wrong but I believe LR record against Gulf South is 6 wins and 4 losses. Playoffs record is 3-2.

Yep, I remember CN also playing a couple of the GSC teams (typically not the top ones at the time) in the regular season and having some luck occasionally.

Mostly over history, even though the SAC seems to be getting better, watching SAC teams pairing up against GSC teams reminded me of American Athletic Conference teams trying to compete against the SEC teams. An occasional win here and there to brag about, but not really on the same level.

      Maybe someday though. We'll see.

Looking forward to the playoffs, hoping a SR2 team brings home the National Championship title back to the region.

Really great point, all season I've been pondering where the 5 GSC teams left will get games. Now that you mention it, SAC teams should take every opportunity to play GSC teams. Even a loss against a top GSC team would be helpful when comparing losses.

I mean, any game against a GSC school next year is a game against a top 5 GSC school ;)

I'm not an expert on scheduling but the way the SAC schedule has worked the last few years the only weeks available to schedule out of conference games were weeks 1 and 2, I guess there was week 0 this year. I think the GSC teams had open weeks later in the year but SAC schools didn't. With the SAC having an odd number of schools after this year I would think there would be some later weeks open for games against GSC teams. Hopefully this will start a new trend. Has anyone seen any SAC schedules release for next year?

The entire conference schedule has been released for the next two years already.

I was told by our HC that we had scheduled a home and away game with WFLA the next two years.

                        That's great!!

Those remaining 4 GSC football schools can use all the help with scheduling they can get.

Hopefully, CN will also add one of the remaining GSC football programs to next season's schedule.

Man, how things can change in a big way for a conference in just 4 or 5 years!

Not sure how the GSC can exist now. Valdosta will almost have to go fcs. WAla and Delta maybe GAC. I guess the writing was on the wall when WGa. left. Logistics wise not sure what works for WFla. They should make the old GS an FCS conference and add a couple schools.

Of the 4 remaining GSC Football playing programs, It looks like West Florida may be the only one that is in any type of condition of possibility moving up to the next level anytime soon, and they may not even want to.

                              week 11: Valdosta state

So this was posted on the GSC board so if true it looks like LRs only non-conference game will be at West Florida in week 0, So between this and the 2025 approved football schedule on the SAC website, LRs schedule has been unofficially released. I think I saw on the GSC site that Newberry is playing VSU as well.
