  • College Gameday-Headed to Arkadelphia?

While this seems nice, I don't think it's a high probability. I could see them doing it maybe for the 100th game.

They will go eventually. I could see it happening IF that game becomes for GAC title again. I'd be more surprised if they didn't ever go at this point.

Yeah I’ve seen a lot on it the last few days. Shocked me to hear Rece say that. I have no idea how much say he gets in that process, but that gave it some credibility. I hope it happens! It would be great for both schools, but I also think it could be great for D2 overall!

This would be cool for the GAC. Hope it happens for the 100th BOTR.

I don’t actually think the teams’ records or the number of the game matters to them all that much. If they come, they’re coming for the story itself, which isn’t reliant on the records. If they cared about that, they could have come to 5-6 different BOTRs in the last 15 years.

Also looks like that weekend’s slate of big games isn’t great. They’ve already been to Bama and UGA this season. Those are the two biggest threats, along with probably BYU vs. TCU and Pitt vs. ND. They could go to TTU vs. BYU in Lubbock the week before and not want back to back BYU games.

Folks I’ve talked to seem to think there’s a real chance it could happen. But I agree with DivisionTwo. Whether it’s this year or later down the road, I would bet $ this is the first D2 game to be on CGD.

            From Doug Warner at KNWA:

            'COLLEGE GAMEDAY' TO ARKADELPHIA, AR?

I've got an update for you about the November 15th game. I spoke with Henderson State's Chancellor Dr. Trey Berry today. He told me he spoke with ESPN today and, "They are very interested and it's not just a pipe dream," but also said its definitely not a certainty. Dr. Berry says he reached out to ESPN after word reached campus that show host Reece Davis had floated the idea in a recent interview.

"There are a lot of stars that still have to align," Berry added, for the Reddies and Ouachita Baptist University to be ESPN's highlight game.

Berry also told me chancellors and athletic directors from both schools are scheduled to meet tomorrow to further discuss the possibility, just to have their ducks in a row if their annual game is selected for that week.

The two schools share a unique athletic and geographic history. Their stadiums are directly across the street from one another. The two teams first played in 1895. The November 15th game will be their 98th ever matchup. The D2 schools play in the Great American Conference along with Southern Arkansas,

Arkansas-Monticello, Harding, and a host of other Arkansas and Oklahoma schools.

It just really doesn't make a ton of sense to do it for the 98th, but maybe the 100th. Even next year would be better, as it would be at Henderson, because there are more seats available.
