It appears I’m not the only one outside the walls of The Brotherhood TM who knows more than they should lolOriginally posted by D2FB View Post
Would love to hear your version of what happened since you appear to be so close to the situation. I really don’t think you have a clue…if your source is Paul Simmons, he’s allergic to telling the truth. If it’s Mote, he’s a puppet. Everyone else knows what’s up.

Despite public sentiment otherwise, Simmons has never liked the flexbone. Feels like it takes away shine from his defense and isn’t adaptable enough in playoffs. Mainly an ego thing. Have heard this from many people over the years.Originally posted by codeblack View Post
Let’s hear yours.
Simmons wants to watch his kid play at U of A and also duck hunt. Used his “leaving” as an opportunity to make sweeping change. He and Mote told OC Wheaton he couldn’t call plays anymore and would have to answer to one of his former players if he stayed on staff. OC said screw that and left. Other pissed off offensive staffers left too before they were phased out by former Harding players and Simmons yes men. Previous staff was totally blindsided by the changes and didn’t agree with them. Weren’t consulted in any capacity.
Mote will be HC for a few years and then retire, at which point Simmons will return as HC once his kid is done playing. Harding has been telling recruits and current players they aren’t abandoning the flexbone, but they are also going to start running some other stuff too… which is the first step towards a full on scheme change.
I’m sure there’s other bits and pieces of info out there to fill in some of the gaps, but that’s pretty much it for anyone who is curious what happened over there.

No, this guy has been posting for a while now. I think most of the Brotherhood knows who this is. I heard he used to post when he was a player at HU. He is buddies with some of the current staff and likes to think he knows more than he really does. Kind of like the Reddie fans in this thread that are trying to spread stuff to break down a giant.Originally posted by D2FB View Post
Let’s start with this guess. Is this Paul or Kyle? Hmmm.

Unfortunately for Harding, ReddieMade is correct.
The offensive staff was totally blindsided by the head coach change and are now gone. I guess the “brotherhood “ doesn’t apply to them.
Why would you dismantle what made you successful? Harding’s athletic department and administration may need to reconsider some of their recent decisions.

Your head coach chasing off the offensive staff that won you a national title because of his ego.

I wish everybody would just relax. The way I see it, the Bison offense was going to make changes any way. If there were other Keylons and Jays waiting in the wings and Wheaton, Chism and Underwood were the guys needed to make the changes, then the powers to be would have made sure they would have been kept around to make them. As it is, the offense was going to have to change sooner or later to take it to the next level. Might as well get started now with necessary changes rather than maintaining status quo for another 2-4 years.

Dude you are all over it! Brilliant! Head Coach Simmons secretly is jealous of any positives that aren't driven by the defense so he hatched this diabolical plan to remove the "Shine" off the offense - you know - scuff it up a bit - make it less successful - an ego thing - so the defense can be the star of a program that now will win less games. Yeah - that's what's happening.Originally posted by ReddieMade View Post

And if you're claiming he wants to share some Saturdays with his kid - that's his prerogative - but the whole duck hunting comment is just dumb as sh!t. Duck hunting season runs late Nov through the end of Jan. If he really wanted to open his hunting season up - he'd go find a defensive job with the Reddies - they aren't ever playing during duck season and no chance the O takes the shine of their D.

Interesting take. Funny how the ‘next level’ starts by walking out the guys who got you there. Also wild how ‘status quo’ suddenly became a problem after making 2 national championships in 3 years, along with a regional final in the middle. just looking at the stats to see why the offense would need to change and I am not seeing many issues as to why it would for the past 10-15 years. That is also with a lot of different players not just the Keylons and the Jays. So just curious as to what the ‘next level’ isOriginally posted by OldBison View PostI wish everybody would just relax. 99% of the time I’d agree with this. However, the status quo for the Bisons is about as good as it gets. I am personally applaud by the changes. BUT if do have trust in the Harding Administration and am curious to see how it all plays out.Originally posted by OldBison View PostI wish everybody would just relax. The status quo is beating HSU and most everybody else in the GAC by double-digits every year and then get to the playoffs and not have the ability to throw effectively when you have to. Come on, man. You don’t have to be a football genius to know there are passing schemes for the Flexbone that Harding has not yet implemented effectively. Go watch Navy. You’ll see what I mean.Originally posted by D2fb2026 View Post
