  • Alcohol in MI College Stadiums

Governor Whitmer signed the bill allowing the boards of the Michigan public universities to get liquor licenses for their stadiums and arenas. It'll be interesting to see how quickly the Michigan GLIAC schools move to take advantage of this, if at all. The biggest hurdle is that most boards will have to call a special meeting if they want to get this done before the season starts.

When I went to Northern vs WSU in 2021, they had part of the endzone blocked off as a beer garden area that anyone of age (not just donors) could get into, so they may be ahead of the curve.

Report out today saying that Michigan and Michigan State are "unlikely" to offer alcohol sales by this fall. Too many things to get accomplished beforehand.
