  • The regional playoff picture.

From the GLIAC, there's GVSU, Ferris, Davenport, and Saginaw Valley still technically alive yet in the playoff hunt. Saggy has the harder road to go with needing to face both Davenport and Ferris yet, and woe to any team here with 3 losses. Heck, 2 losses and you could still end up sitting at home come playoff selection time. Most likely 2 from here, maybe 3 depending on the math.

From the MIAA, there's Central Oklahoma, Pittsburg State, and Emporia State. Worst thing here would be for UCO to lose to both PSU and ESU and that would put all of those 3 teams into the playoffs.

From the GAC, with the Harding loss, OBU, Harding, and Southern Arkansas still in the playoff hunt here, but I wouldn't put a lot of faith on SAU having a lot of a chase of getting the muleriders winning their next game.

And finally, Indy from the GLVC.

So, IMO, you're going to have GV for sure if they beat Ferris, and then if Ferris wins, you're going to have both of them in. Ferris' case gets a little shaky with a loss below.

    You're going to have UIndy.

You're going to have both Harding and Ouachita, because neither of them are going to lose the rest of the way, most likely.

That leaves UCO, Pitt, and Emporia. If UCO goes undefeated, that would mean Pitt and Emporia both have 2 losses, and Emporia likely gets the nod because they beat Pitt. If Pitt beats UCO, then you have all three teams with one loss until the final week, when UCO and Emporia play. In that case, you'd have Pitt in, plus the winner of UCO and Emporia.

There is a situation where if UCO beats Pitt, and then Emporia beats UCO, you'd have Emporia and UCO both in with 1 loss, plus Pitt makes it in over Ferris because of the H2H.

So I think you have 8 teams for 7 spots. I don't think there's going to be anyone else worth considering unless something crazy happens.

I think if GV wins… Ferris losses would be to No#4 at the time and no#1 GV. Then if they run the table after that SV will have 3 losses and Davenport will also have 3 losses. I would think FSU would be in. If GV loses and runs table they are in. I think 2 teams from GLIAC will get in. Would be nice if teams in the same conference don’t play each other in the first round of playoffs if possible.

Central Oklahoma has still to play Pitt and Emporia both with one loss. One of those 3 schools will have 2 losses possibly 2 teams with 2 losses.

too many good teams in one region again!!!!

I'd agree on the whole, but no one gave us much of a chance this past week, and SAU put up more points on our defense than Harding did. I'm just concerned about BotR for us. That's a game where the phrase "throw the standings out the window" is absolutely true. So many years of the underdog playing the spoiler...

And then the Gorram purple tigers go and stub their toes on a winless Southern Nazarene.
