if your team does not play this year is it the equivalent of “The Death Penalty”? Think of SMU in the mid 80s. SMU was not allowed to do ANYTHING, for the most part, with their football program. Refer to ESPNs 30 for 30 on the “Pony Excess” players interviewed left the program citing wanting to play and such. Is not playing the equivalent of “The Death Penalty”? I do know not playing is not an NCAA punishment, but not playing tells a recruit to go back home and rethink his decision about playing for “X” University. My fear is....”It could be akin to the “Death Penalty”

If no one plays, no. Then it is nothing like the Death Penalty. SMU was guilty of what they were charged with. Today's schools haven't been charged with anything. Either we have football in the fall or we have a lot bigger fish to fry that the sport.

Wonder if this will be the model elsewhere too, should the capacity rules still be in place:
Iowa State University Athletic Director Jamie Pollard sent a letter to football ticket holders saying they are expecting to host a football season, but operating under the current guidelines of 50% capacity.
Pollard said the only fans that get to go to games this year will be those who renew their season tickets and make their Cyclone Club donation by June 12.
