53 signees. 39 high school 14 transfers. Originally I was shocked at how high the numbers were but it seems like most in the MIAA have bigger classes this year. The 14 transfers I’m sure is to fill up the holes we ended up with. Going through the roster we had a bunch not come back for their COVID year and a bunch transfer out. Don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. There needed to be a culture change and sometimes that means starting with a fresh slate.

if I end up with a slow night I’ll expound on how I feel about the class after pouring through some film

        I thought MOSO's 43 were a lot. Wow!

We appeared to have lost quite a bit in the portal or through graduation or people not using their COVID year. I’m betting there was a sizable amount of money freed up.

We’ll see if it pays off. Need a big culture change

I plan to look at position groups. and leave some reviews. Plan on a little more detail along the lines with less so as we move on. 53 is a ton.

            Offensive Line
We signed 6 HS and 2 transfers. A lot to be excited about in this group IMO. The group Returning is all very young and a bunch of young guys got starts at the end of the year. We currently have 11 guys on roster with 9 of them being Sophomores on the updated spring roster. Big losses for this group are Pat kelly that played 12 years. Tuli Teuhema who transferred to Tarleton and Stroughter who entered for the draft. Did lose a couple of young guys based on how the Spring roster looks.

Nijel Akpom at 6'4 360 is a mountain that moves reasonably well. I think if they can get him down to 320 or so and get him to bend his hips he may be a terror in the MIAA.

Neville Brow 6'4 310 moves well, bends well. they played him at both guard positions and Center in High school. He needs a college Weight room and he could be scary good,

Avery Coleman 6'5 255 Played both tackle positions and guard at various times. He was in a spread offense so a lot of his blocks were made for him based on formation but does appear to have a little bit of a mean streak. Needs a college weightroom and 20-30 lbs

Kaden Lonard 6'5 300 one of two instate HS OL we took this year. He may be the one im excited about most. Think he comes in and can push to play right away. In a perfect world he can sit for a year for some college weight room but we're young in OL room. I can't tell how heavy he was recruited by MIAA folks based off his twitter but im guessing he was a PWO type of guy at KU KState.

Braxton McDaniel other instate OL. Big kid that played at a small school. Think he'll be a project. We'll see what a college weight room will do for him.

Jaheim Reed 6'4 300. Big body that plays a little high. Played reasonably high level florida ball. Had a number of d2 offers from the east coast it looked like.

            Transfers
Arundel Briggs - Played at blinn but looks like he didnt play anywhere in 2022. Think this is mostly about older depth.

Seth Falley Had 11 or so D1 offers coming out of Butler. started in 5, played in 6 games this year. Hopefully can bring some elder statesman to the room. Only has 1 year of eligibility left i think is probably the only snag

            Tight Ends
Signed 2 HS and 2 Transfers. Finding Budke Replacement begins. Have 4 guys on roster with 2 of them seeing some playing time last year. Cure and Cormaney neither one are in line maulers right now but we'll see what a spring football and weights does for em.

Keron Watson. 6'4 220 Big frame kid. Think this was solid pick up out of AZ

Joshua Willhite 6'1 215 our lone okie for the year. He likely moves into an Hback type.

            Transfers
Sloan Hayden 6'4 240 and John Thomas Jones 6'3 240 both fairly similar. Will likely be our true in line guys this year.

            Defensive Line
We sign 6 HS and 1 transfer. This is a position group that overall returns a lot of starts and is still fairly young. Personally I thought this group somewhat underperformed for the talent that was there. We're deep in this room and just got deeper. I'm hopeful they get a leader that comes out of spring ball an can handle tsome things

Kameron Graham 6'4 225 8 sacks and 22 TFL in playing higher end Florida ball in is impressive. Has good speed. Plays with his hands well on the highlight tape. Think this guy may come in and be a pass rush specialist type right away.

Elijah Lynn 6'6 240 Kid is LOOONG. I couldn't figure out why he as playing Nose in a 3-4 defense until you watch the tape a little more. He plays with good leverage and hands but hes definitely more quick than fast. Has a wrestling background. Think this kid could be a monster. I dont think he sees field right away. Think he needs about 20 lbs and then he'll be our 3 tech for a long time.

Taderian Partee 6'4 240 I don't know when Hays started recruiting Arkansas but if we need to keep going back if theres kids like this. 4A all state Dlineman. they say he had a 108 tackles with 10 sacks and 10 TDs as a TE. I'm betting those tackles are a little padded but this guys a stud. I could see him playing DE or TE for us based on need.

Bryce Salmans 6'1 225 Hometown stud. 2 time all state. Conference defensive player of the year. If hes 3 inches taller he ain't going D2. Im ecstatic to have him. I think he can slot in at DE or maybe turn into TE or Hback. Tough Kid. Think this will be a big move for culture. Excited for this one

Guyteau Salvador 6'4 220 The Miami pipeline from McCray pays off again. 15.5 sacks and 30 TFL senior season.Think this is another guy that could come in and play as a pass rush specialist right away.

Jackson Turnbull 6'5 230 Was a little surprised this kid didnt stay in Pittsburg but im guessing a lot of it had to do with hes playing baseball and football for Hays next year. Big kid. Wouldnt surprise me if he moved inside at some point after they put some weight on him

            Transfer

Donnell Johnson Transfer from FIU with what looks like 3 years left of eligibility. Had a solid prep career in Florida. Think he could slot in on the inside with Darville and make a solid combo.

            LB
5 HS 1 transfer. This is a unit that was fairly beat up last year. Number of different guys got time. Makel Williams is a stud. It'll be interesting to see if menges moves back to LB or stays at DE. Have quite a few guys on roster competing and weent out aigned a ton more.

Landen Allen - 6' 200 Kid has a ton of accolades. Fast. Touch on the small side but I think thats fine. our last SE of saline LB was Brock Long and guy was an absolute stud.

Chance Kerr 6' 205.high character kid. Adds to our Dodge City numbers. all conference RB and LB

Jacob Orozco 6'3 outta LA Looks the part of a 4-2-5 LB. Looks to have speed to run sideline to sideline and cover. I'm excited about this one. Wonder how that culture shocks goes..

Omar Shah 5'10 220 out of Utah. Ton of speed. looks to have good instincts. Wonde rif he'll push to play right away. 4-2-5 LB is a major change in pace to begin with not to mention making step up to college

Carter Waldo 6' 200 another one out of Arkansas. Kid looks to be a good fit as well

            Transfer

Manuel Chavez Former 8 man player that saw decent amount of time at GCCC last year. should be a good special teams guy if nothing else.

Ill get to WR DB RB and QB at somepoint

Definitely was needed in having a huge class for Coach Brown. It’s still mind-boggling to see what happened the last couple of years, as I never imagined that would happen to a Coach Brown ran program. But sometimes when you get a handful of bad apples or deterioration in staff, that can happen.

FHSU is just very lucky they have Brown as the head coach but they definitely have a big hole to dig out of but this huge class is a start.
