You're right. UCO should probably fire him. I think I'd still take him over what I've seen the past 2 NAIA/MNU coaches do to NW teams.

Joel has his 9-2 Ravens in Ft Worth 2:00 pm 11/30 for a round of 16 game vs 10-0 Tx Wesleyan in the NAIA playoffs.
I’m sure that’s his #1 priority now.

Exactly- nothing is official until the contracts are signed and the press conference is held. I have heard stories of coaches being offered a position, accepting, and told that the contract was being FedEx-ed overnight. The contract didn’t show up the next day and that evening the school held a press conference announcing another coach.
