I did think the Pitt QB actually looked comfortable in the 2nd half against Hays for the first time.

Mules QB is putting up 400 yds and 5 touchdowns a game and your guy looked "comfortable" in the second half last week. Oh yeah, that's very encouraging for Pitt fans.

Can the Z-man throw for 400 yards, 5 touchdowns and no picks for the third week in a row? What would "real deal" status look like against the G's, maybe 300 yards, 4 touchdowns and no picks. I don't know, but I expect the G's defense to put the heat on the Mules quarterback. Here's what I expect from the Mules offense. They will play fast, loose, and up tempo to gas the defense and keep them from subbing in fresh players. I expect the Mules passing attack to focus on 5 to 7 yarders and move the chains. I don't want to see the Mules going deep on 1st down, I want to see 2nd down and 5 and now (maybe) you take a shot 20 yards down field.

The G's offense is having trouble moving the ball in the first half. I question the confidence level of the G's quarterback when I hear Pitt posters say, "he was nervous, or he was starting to look more comfortable in the 2nd half." We'll see how comfortable he feels against a vastly improved Mule's defense.

Hey, on paper the G's are the third best team in the country and should trounce the Mules. But, at this early point of the season, are the 2023 G's as good as the 2022 team, I think not.

I remember 2001 when Central had this great offense that was going to put up all kinds of numbers against us. And then they didn’t……..

I would argue that the Pitt oline, and overall offense are better this year than last. The o was pretty one dimensional last year. They had the deep ball and that was it. The defense is actually trending toward being better this year than last year as well.
I think that is mainly due to the buy in and summer participation being higher than it has been since the 90s.

I do agree that the short and intermediate passes, along with the run, will be the key for the Central o. It's tough to beat Pitt deep.

Tired of hearing about the up tempo mule offense. If you go 3 and out in 21 seconds, it's not super impressive.

Watching both mule games, their oline is plain bad and that 3-3 D isn't great, but is gimmicky enough that teams will have trouble with it.


They do a great job of hiding their oline weakness with super quick, 2 or 3 step drop throws and running once everyone is spread out.
