Will the weather make this one interesting?

UCM practiced all week in the rain and probably the same for MSU. The Mules will probably run the football more and shorten up the passing attack.

        Averages per game:

        UCM
        50 points per game - opponents 28.
435 passing yards per game - opp. 257
167 rushing yards per game - opp. 128

        MSU
        31 points per game - opponents 21
229 passing yards per game - opp. 171
129 rushing yards per game - opp. 161

Southern might have the running game to win if it's raining so hard that it becomes a rock fight.

It might end up being worth watching?

Then again, the Mules might all have catcher's mitt hands and go full murderdeathkill like they did on Emporia.

Mules rushing for 38 more yards per game than the Lions.
Mules giving up 33 fewer rushing yards per game than the Lions.
            Rock fight - advantage Mules
Air battle - huge advantage Mules

Has the UCM run game had to work when teams didn't have to sell out to stop the pass?

It seems to me that everything in that O depends on the pass working.

Then again, the MoSo run D is honestly pretty bad, so???

                Lions by a field goal

The Mules use the pass to set up the run. 😀 😉

That's heresy!! Everyone knows you use the run to setup the pass! Unfortunately, it works lol.

They definitely do. The question is, if weather conspires to make passing too much of an adventure, can they shift gears and do something else, or are they just so good at passing that anything short of softball sized hail won't even slow them down?

I think the game might be fun to watch because of that.

Btw, If the Mules get up, pull ZZ early. The Lions are dirty, dirty, cheap shot, dirty.

Was wondering about this too. Rain, mid-to-upper 40s and the nice wind out of the north at Fred Hughes stadium may make this an interesting game. I'm staying home to watch this one on the MIAA Network from the warmth of my home. I expect to see a heavy dose of Nathan Glades running with our huge line tomorrow.

Southern's 3 MIAA wins are against teams that have won a combined total of 2 MIAA games (both are Kearney, Washburn & Northeastern haven't won any). Southern's hot start was schedule driven. That being said, bad Southern teams have beaten good CentralMO teams in the past.
