With a bold and game-changing performance, the Hornets are primed to defy the odds and shake up the national rankings.

Emporia State, led by a dynamic group of captains are charging into The Jungle with a fervor that could turn the tide against the Gorillas. Under the strategic leadership of Coach Garin Higgins, who boasts a 159-89 career record and a reputation for post-season success, the Hornets are set for a breakthrough. Backed by impressive stats from their dominant win against Angelo State, the Hornets’ defense has proven its mettle, allowing just 7 points and forcing 3 turnovers in that game. Emporia State's defensive front, has been exceptional, sacking the quarterback 5 times and stifling the run game.

Pittsburg State, despite their formidable reputation, showed vulnerabilities in their recent games. They struggled with consistent offensive production and were notably less effective in the second half, which aligns with their fourth-quarter issues last season.

Pittsburg State fans have been vocal on the forums. Predatory Primate has dismissed the Hornets’ chances, claiming no team can match the Gorillas' home dominance. Meanwhile, PSR is confident in the Gorillas’ ability to maintain their perfect season, while Gorilla Teacher believes the Hornets' recent success will falter against the top team's relentless pressure.

Predatory Primates , you’ve got a lot of questions. Here’s a spoiler: the Hornets’ defense is as formidable as they come, ready to challenge Pitt’s run game head-on. And as for Gundy finding holes in the zone—he’s more than capable of exploiting those openings. Expect the Hornets to surprise you by taking control and playing some keep-away of their own!

Gorilla Teacher noted the Gorillas’ vulnerability in the fourth quarter last season, but this year, the Hornets won’t be waiting for a late-game surge. Emporia State is set to dominate every quarter, leaving no room for a comeback and ensuring that the Gorillas' late-game weaknesses are a non-factor in this clash.

Wallst , I see you’re banking on Pitt’s run game to chew up the clock and keep Gundy off the field. But don’t underestimate the Hornets’ defense—they’re poised to shut down that run game and make a statement. As for turnovers, the Hornets are ready to capitalize on any mistakes Pitt might make. Saturday could be the perfect opportunity for Emporia State to flip the script and prove your predictions wrong. After all, that’s why we play the game—to show what’s possible and defy the doubters!

Emporia State is determined to end a six-game losing streak to Pittsburg State and break the Gorillas' 14-game home winning streak. With a solid 2-0 start to their season, the Hornets are more than ready to challenge the status quo and rise through the ranks.

Get ready for a game where underdogs become legends. Emporia State is prepared to shock the nation, defy the predictions of Predatory Primate, PSR, and Gorilla Teacher, and establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with on the national stage.

While others disappear after their grand predictions falter, Reload will be here all season, ready to share the thrilling ups and downs. Let’s see if the Hornets’ game-changing performance can turn some heads and prove the skeptics wrong!

Emporia State 27, Pittsburg State 24

              • Defense makes big plays. Give up a lot of yards but won the game on 3rd and 4th downs, and with 3 picks. Great day for the Hornets.

                • Emporia State proved once again that it’s not about flashy stats but about execution and seizing critical moments. Despite Pitt’s 345 passing yards, it was the Hornets who walked out with a 24-21 victory, and here’s why.

While Pittsburg State may have outgained Emporia in the air, it’s their failure to convert on key downs that sealed their fate. The Hornets absolutely dominated on third down, converting 7 of 17 attempts, compared to Pitt’s abysmal 3 of 13. Emporia’s defense came up big when it mattered most, forcing 3 interceptions, and despite Pitt racking up more yardage, it’s all about what you do with it.

The Hornets were efficient and balanced, with 118 rushing yards and 217 passing yards. They didn’t need gaudy stats, just smart football. Emporia controlled the pace and delivered when it counted most—especially in key turnovers, forcing three picks and keeping Pitt’s run game in check.

Possession might have been almost even, but Pitt’s inefficiency in critical moments was the real story. Emporia capitalized on turnovers and kept Pitt off balance, proving that grit, discipline, and timely plays can topple even the most potent offenses.

So to all the doubters—consider this your wake-up call. The Hornets are here to compete, and they just showed why they’re a force to be reckoned with.

                  Oh, and good game, Pitt!

                  • All that’s very much true. 2 missed field goals and 3 picks, 2 were inexcusable. Emporia shows up tonight. We just left ourselves in the locker room.

I cannot understand how we lost by three.

                      Seemed more like twenty three.
