    I

Lee has a good approach for ENMU. I follow them on twitter and I bet he signed 60 kids. ENMU is really cheap to attend. He throws out a bunch of offers and signs a ton of kids. The law of numbers catches up and they will get some really good players out of this approach. It will be interesting to see if they can keep them in Portales in the transfer portal era.

It was music to my ears. I've been complaining about Hughes recruiting 5'10" 240 lb DL for the last few years. I hope Lynn will run a balanced offense like he says. I thought it was funny he referenced him signing 11 WR was unheard of in his past coaching jobs.

          Easy Ed McCaffrey
Check out the 6'4 Aaron Dubose, San Antonio Brennan HS. Twin brother of QB Ashton. Aaron could be a tough matchup for a 5'11 CB.

Lee picked up some nice recruits in South Texas. The Fillmore kid from Victoria is the son of a former Javelina LB who I think was an All American .

I was at the roll out yesterday. Afterwards I had a chance to sit an hour with Coach Lynn and 6 or 7 "old" WT hands. I like the guy. He's a one of us kind of guy. He's very engaging. A likable kind of guy. Someone asked who his mentor/hero was. Without hesitation Lynn answered "his Dad," a long time small town football coach in West Texas and New Mexico. He told me his preferred offense would be 50/50 run/pass.

As far as recruiting goes, WT is still looking for talent. More OL's and DL's. One more QB. Of the 100 non-seniors on the 2022 roster about 80 are enrolled this spring. Added into that are the above transfers and a few more preferred walk-ons and there are a bit over 100 players for spring ball. The roster is still very young. Lynn stated a few times the Buffs need to get "older." Replying to a question of how he'd rank this recruiting class, he said "it wasn't his best ever class but it was very solid (considering he only had a month to recruit) and had some real gems. They recruited heavy on linemen and DB's and got some size and athleticism. Also, they're not through just yet."

I've watched the videos on every kid. As far as QB's go Ashton Dubose and Landyn Hack are really good. Both dual threat. A couple guys that are a blast to watch are Tory Simmons, Pflugerville Weiss 5'8 165, and Micah Simpson, Greenville 5'10 165. Man can those guys motor. Simpson played WR, RB, QB, DB. His game against Frisco Liberty earned him the Texas Ford Built Tough 5A player of the week. Filling in for the regular bit injured QB, against Frisco Liberty Simpson rushed for 444 yards on 34 carries and 6 TD's the longest 74 yards. How those "little" guys transfer their skills to college ball will be interesting and hopefully fun to watch. The recruited LB's are aggressive and quick. They got some size on the defensive line and Lynn said some speed on the edge. It's harder to evaluate the OL's but they are big boys. Lynn said the secondary got size and length. He also pointed out the kicker Gregg and said the long snapper from Kearney was the best he's had in his coaching career. With a punter that didn't play last year and place kicker Gregg he said our kicking game will be very good.
Wow, a coach that cares about the kicking game. Imagine that! I'm very glad to hear Lynn is sold on 50/50 run/pass.

Hack sounds really good. I'm really glad we got him. You never know how these kids will perform at the next level, but these are some good signees.

Lynn has announced WT will run the Spread. That may not be conducive to a 50/50 offense. But......having mobile QB's is the best of today's game. Personally, I like the West Coast style of play where you have a strong run game, hit the short quick passes, and have a QB that can execute play action/run/pass option. The kind of offense that moves the chains and controls a game.

Don’t know if it was already mentioned, but it looks like the new UTPB coach is bringing his QB over from East Central:

Just like all the other classes CWU has signed no one has a clue if this is a talented class or not. It's just a dick measuring process at this point. What I do know is there will be transfers who will immediately be starters in positions that are thin. And one of those individuals if everything lines up will be a Whale.
