  • 2025 Super Region Changes

Inkblot posted this in the General Discussion board - this is the new regional alignment starting in 2025:

    SUPER REGION 1
    CIAA
    MEC
    NE10
    PSAC

    SUPER REGION 2
    CC
    GSC
    SAC
    SIAC

    SUPER REGION 3
    GLIAC
    GLVC
    GMAC
    NSIC

    SUPER REGION 4
    GAC
    LSC
    MIAA
    RMAC

Region 4 is going to get a whole lot tougher.

(For those who may not know - CC is Conference Carolinas, they're starting a football league in 2025 with teams currently playing football in the SAC and GSC)

Yikes. Going back to the late 2000s-early 2010s setup.

The LSC just turned into the NE10/SIAC of Region 4.

Good luck getting by Mines, Harding, Pitt State, (if they rebuild, NW MIssouri), etc.

Positive note playoff time that there should be much less airline travel.

      For everyone not named CWU.

Going south instead of north in the playoffs sounds nice

We are dealing with it. Successfully I might add. Certainly dealt with it when we beat TAMUK.

As we've all found out, it doesn't really matter what Region they're in for playoff seeding. If CWU (or WOU for that matter) manages to make the playoffs again, they're the biggest candidate for being sent out of Region for a playoff game.

As long as a RMAC team has a high seed and CW is unseeded that will probably be a regular first round matchup.

                  Yep fair statement.

However it opens up a lot of non flight travel for everyone else and this regionally makes a ton more sense.

NSIC was never a good fit travel wise the last several years.

It will be the only region where every conference has produced at least 1 NC.

Y'all need to get more D2 football out on the west coast.

Western Washington, Humboldt State, Simon Fraser, Azusa Pacific have all cut programs since 2009. DI-AA St. Mary's in Cali also cut in mid 2000s. Dixie State has now gone to FCS. This is all in addition to the handful of Cali schools who cut programs in the 80s and 90s. And to answer your presumed follow up question about D3 and NAIA teams moving up, that's been entertained. Begged for to be honest. Nope. How about current non-football D2 schools adding football? Big nope. And finally, what about CWU and WOU going to RMAC? Nope. That's a bus league that is already pretty full. What about CWU and WOU going to the Big Sky? Hell to the no. We could quadruple our athletics budget and still be middle of the road for Big Sky.

I will say this, in the past handful of years, CWU has put millions into their athletics facilities. Football stadium has some very nice improvement. Basketball arena is 99% complete and includes an indoor turf field for all sports to use all year round. CWU wants to be an elite school in the revenue-generating sports.
