Angelo must be really big into dual credit. Their freshman class number for 2024 is reported at 6200. WT's is 1400. For sophomores in 2024, Angelo State reports 900, versus 1200 at WT.

I thought I was strange that ASU reported their total enrollment to be considerably higher than WT's, while their operating budget is lower. Didn't make sense. Now it does.

Haha. Forgot the plural tense. Count off 10 points from my freshman comp paper since it was the 1990s for me before spell check.

Haha. Of course I was joking with you. I am NOT a grammar or spelling "Notsee".

Growing up in an Italian-American household, I can give every possible spelling choice, as well as ever vernacular and non-vernacular pronunciation of every English word. NONE of which are correct.

Oh I know it was funny.

As long as I can properly use "you're" instead of "your" when calling someone an idiot on facebook then I am ahead of the game.

Recent Trends: Dual credit enrollment saw a 5.2% increase in the most recent reporting cycle, contributing to a record fall enrollment.

This is actually a great program that ASU has, but their "real" enrollment is flat to slightly declining. Schools are coming up with some creative ways to push a narrative.

If indeed the HS dual credit kids are included in WT’s numbers, (link from ASUP post below), Angelo could be doing more with less. Also, dual credit discounts could be seed money to encourage kids to attend ASU. Not sure how scholarship money plays into operating budgets though.

No doubt ASU is all in on dual credit kids. I think it's a great idea. Kind of skews their real enrollment numbers, but who really cares.

My wife and I had occasion to go through San Angelo a couple of months ago and stopped at Jason’s Deli, I recognized Ronnie D. Hawkins Jr., president of ASU from the ASU newsletter, sitting a couple of seats over from us. He is a ASU alum himself and a ROTC/Air Force vet. We introduced ourselves and my ties to ASU. He and His wife were very personable not having known us. The university still maintains a working relationship with the armed forces through Good Fellow Air Force base at SA which leans to their great interest in AI technology. Angelo has higher aspirations I am sure, but they understand that they are a regional institution and needs to be committed to that base as a priority. I just hope they keep their high standards in athletics also. I believe their major rival for D2 students will be UTPB. Just mho.
